As most of you know, we have started a tradition here at Freebies2Deals to always give back during the Holidays. We get such great deals throughout the year, and save our families a ton of money. But, there are so many families out there that are seriously struggling. Last year, the Freebies2Deals Readers all banned together and donated Christmas to 25 Families! And, I was touched and amazed at how much we truly were able to do together and how big of a difference we really made! It was awesome to watch!!
This year, I have thought long and hard about what to do and who I felt like we should help. I asked a bunch of you to give me stories about families that had kids with Cancer. And, I received too many emails to even really count- it obviously is a heart-wrenching ordeal for any child to go through. With that said, I have decided that I would like our effects to be long lasting and help as many kid cancer patients as possible for years to come. So, this year, I am arranging a Gigantic Donation to the Primary Children’s Hospital. If you haven’t heard of Primary Children’s, it is one of the leading Child Cancer Facilities here in the West.
While these kids undergo Chemo therapy, they are in-need of select things for comfort, distraction and just to make them happy. I am a firm believer that keeping kids positive can really help their outcomes. So, we are going to do our best to make their Cancer Treatments bearable and enjoyable with our donations. I hope you can join me in this worthy quest because they really need our help! The list of Primary Children’s “needed” items is pretty long.
They have 16 stations where children come to get their Chemo. So, if possible, some of the items on the list we will need 16 of the same thing.
The TOP items that they need are as follows:
- DVDs rated G and PG (New Release Movies- or newer released)- They watch these as they undergo treatment.
- Teen Items (sometimes they get overlooked)
- LEGOs, Hot Wheels Cars, Action Figures (Batman, Star Wars, Spiderman)
- Coloring Books
- Xbox’s
On top of those items, I have created a full list here of the items that they are looking for. You can print out the list and keep it next to your computer. That way, when a hot deal pops up, you can check your reference list and purchase it!
Freebies2Deals will be collecting all of the items and taking them in for donation. We will capture the entire thing on video like we did last year, so you guys can see exactly where your items are going and know that your donations got there safe and sound.
If you are wanting to donate items, please email Annalee at annalee@freebies2deals.com. She can give you an address of where to deliver or ship your items to. **Please do NOT send your items directly to Primary Children’s Hospital. They will not know what to do with your delivery and will send it back to you.
Our cut off date for donations is doing to be Dec. 11th. So, please make sure you have your donations in the mail by that time.
Thank you SO much everyone for helping out this year and working together to really make Christmas more enjoyable for all of those kids currently undergoing Cancer Treatment. I’m sure this time of the year is really hard on them and their families financially. So, doing whatever we can to help getting treatment a more comforting experience will really make a difference! I hope you guys are as excited as I am to help them out!

Love, love, love this! We’ve had to take our daughter to Primary Children’s Hospital for dental surgery and it was so hard to see the sick kids there, but I’m so happy you are doing this service project for them. Anything that makes it easier on them is well worth my time and effort. I plan to donate and I hope that everyone else can find it in their hearts to donate too, every little bit helps and will make these sick children/teens so much happier. Thanks for doing this Melea.

What a great idea Milea! My daughter gets infusions every 2 weeks at the Children’s Specialized Hospital in PA (she doesn’t have cancer, but gets infusions for a disease she has, Pompe, which she will need infusions her whole life, or at least until they come up with a different form of treatment), and kids get so happy when they get to play, or watch something interesting while getting their infusions! It makes it so much easier for the parents, and makes time go by quicker for the children!

I love this. My youngest sister had cancer when she was 3 to 5 years old and was treated at PCMC. Such an amazing hospital! My family practically lived there for two years. I know how hard it is for these families and what you are doing is amazing. It will mean so much. Thank you for putting it together!

As a nurse at primary children’s, I’m really excited about this project. Although I feel that children suffering with cancer are fully deserving of all these resources, there are a lot of other long-term patients in the hospital that could also deserve your support. If you have additional items that ICS can’t use, I’m sure the other departments of the hospital would absolutely welcome it.

Thank you so much for choosing Primary Children’s cancer patients for your Christmas project. In 1993, I was a 7 year old cancer patient at PCMC and had to spend Christmas in the hospital. What a fabulous idea! Our son was diagnosed with a brain tumor in June of 2010 and spent 2 weeks at Primary Children’s. I have wanted to give back since. My son was a cancer patient at Primary Children’s while he was 4 -5 years old, and just finished his treatments a year and a half ago. As a mom of someone who has been there, I can tell that this gift is so, so needed!!! THANK YOU in advance for your generosity and donations.
