Wow, this was a lot more work than I was expecting.  But I think this 15 Day Clearance Challenge has been a huge success! And that is all that matters to me. 🙂  I can’t believe that we have had over 179 Clearance Deals shared by Freebies2Deals readers on Instagram with the Hashtag #F2D15DayChallenge.  I was hoping that if we all worked together to share the deals we were finding on the clearance shelves that we could all benefit… and we have.  It’s been great to scroll through those posted deals and see what kinds of clearance deals I might be able to find at my own store when I’m shopping. SO helpful!

With that said, today is the last day of our challenge.  So here is your last tip!

Clearance Shopping Tip #15:

My last tip is pretty simple and sums up all 14 tips I have posted so far.  HAVE FUN!! Clearance shopping can be a rush.  Finding amazing items that have been marked down to dirty cheap prices is like my Birthday multiplied by 10!  It’s a Treasure Hunt!  For example, I was checking out the Clearance items in the Jewelry Section at Target last week and found this gem (pictured above…and yes, it is a dorky car selfie, haha).  I have wanted a statement necklace that could go with everything. And when I saw that RED Clearance Tag and the price, I was even more excited.

Clearance can obviously be found at any store.  However, just a reminder that Target has an extra 20% off Clearance Clothing and Accessories right now for the family on the Target Cartwheel App.  Just tap the offer to add it to your account, have the cashier scan the barcode and the extra 20% will come right off your bill.  Use your Target Red Debit Card to save an extra 5% on top of it!  (This offer expires in two days.)

Now to the important part, right?  TOMORROW, I am going to announce the 30 Target Gift Card Winners!!  So get in your last minute helpful clearance tip comment below for entries.

Don’t forget that you can also snap a pic of a clearance deal you have found in store and share it on YOUR Instagram page tagging @Freebies2Deals with the hashtags #F2D15DayChallenge and #Clearance.  If you do that, you will get another entry into the Giveaway!

**More details over here, if you missed the first announcement.

  1. I always check Smith’s for their clearance grocery items. I’ve found vitamins, make up, candy, command strips, and food that my coupons made free! They have clearance in every section too (frozen, healthy, beauty, baked goods). I’ve used their clearances to get dozens of packages of wholly guacamole for 25-50 cents each and they freeze amazingly.

  2. My favorite finds are a lot of times in carts at the front of the grocery store. Like just the other day I walked into Fresh Maket and found 2 carts full of western Family Diapers for $1.50 a package. I loaded up for my brothers twin girls!!
I always check the front (sometimes back) of the grocery stores for carts with clerance!!

  3. Our store has a clearance center at the back and at different sections of the cold food departments. Just takes a few minutes to do a sweep through and see if there is anything amazing. I have gotten diapers and other things out of those sections…sometimes I don’t but I definitely benefit from taking a peek each time. So ask your store or start looking and see if you can find what your store does.

  4. I always search for clearance items at Sams club. They are typically mixed in with other newer items on the shelf but you can get some killer deals!! They mark down their kitchen items & bed/bath items constantly. I am always finding great clearance items there!

  5. Our store has a separate little section for clearance makeup and another one for toys. I always check it. You never know what bargains you can score. We always get hit hard with summer friend birthdays, so anything I can do to spread out the buying, it helpful.

  6. My clearance shopping tip is to think of others! When something is such an insane deal that you hate to pass it up because you don’t need it, think of someone who might and surprise them with a little gift. I love gifting little things to make my loved ones know I am thinking about them, and it’s awesome when these heartfelt actions can mean so much but cost very little!!

  7. Many times in the front of department stores or in the middle aisle they will have a cart or bin with clearance items. I have found mittens, underwear and socks in these bins/carts for as cheap as 10 cents. It’s as if someone cleaned the back room and found a bunch of stuff they needed to get rid of. I love when this happens.

  9. My money saving tip is to get friends together and do a nickle auction once a month. Bring your gently used items (DI items, clothes.housewares etc. to auction off starting at a nickel)…change ie. nickels pennies etc., potluck food to eat while there buying and selling each others items. Great way to save money!
Also, find out what day your favorite store marks down items and go at that time. Always be on the look out for mark downs and don’t be afraid to try new items.
Thanks for awesome blog. love it.

  10. Is the bluebird card from Walmart similar to targets redcard?

    Thanks

    • I believe the BlueBird Card from Walmart is a prepaid Debit Card. Target’s Red Debit card just links to your current checking account and debits right out of it.

  11. Think about next year when you go through those clearance deals! I like to buy non-perishables right after a holiday for the next year. This year’s valentines cards were purchased last year, and we have tins all ready to go for 2015 Christmas goodies. I’m always thinking about birthdays. I like to spend around $5 for birthdays, but give a gift worth $10-$15. So I buy things that would make good gifts and put them in a storage box. When my kiddos get invited to parties, I let them pick a gift to give from the box.

  12. Grocery stores have clearance too. I live in a smaller town and my Smiths has a cooler clearance section where you can find anything from eggs to yogurt to milk that may be expiring soon. They sometines even have gallons of milk. They also have carts stashed and end caps with clearance items. If I can use it before expiring, it is almost always a great deal.

  13. Aside from Target being my favorite store to shop for clearance items, I love the health and beauty section at my grocery store, Meijer. They always have a selection of clearance items in that area, and I’ve found some great prices on medicine for my children!

  14. I always shop the clearance section and buy clothes in the next sizes for my kids, that way I never have to pay full price. Today I got a cardigan and 3 shirts for my daughter for next year at Target for only a few bucks each. Take advantage of the cartwheels app and extra 20% off!
