So, I’ve been thinking a lot about what Freebies2Deals should do for our service project this year for Christmas.  Last year, we did an amazing Secret Santa for 25 Families all over the country!  And, so many of you were the reason we even pulled that off. So thank you again! 🙂

I was wondering if any of you knew of families who had children getting Cancer Treatments at Primary Children’s Hospital in SLC, Utah. And, if they happen to be in a pretty serious prediciment being able to provide any type of Christmas??

We were up there today to talk about possibilities of donating, and it was so hearbreaking to see a 2 year old getting Chemo. I know there are a lot of families struggling this year with Christmas, but I was thinking that maybe we could make a few of the kids with cancer smile too!

Anyway, let me know if you happen to know of a family who has kids that are currently undergoing treatment. Please email me at melea@freebies2deals.com with how you know them, who the cancer patient is, what their financial situation is and why they would be perfect for a possible Christmas donation!

Thanks everyone for your help!  I need to hear from you guys by Monday, Oct 10th, or we might have to go another route for our Secret Santa Project

  1. Melea, I know of a family who lives in rural central Utah. I don’t know them personally, but follow the story through my parents who live in this same small town. This is a large family that may likely lose their Father to an unoperable brain tumor. Please let me know if this is something you would consider. I’m already saving my stockpile for them, but if this is a family you would consider, I can help.

  2. I know this isn’t exactly what you were looking for, but I know that sometimes you are given a window of opportunity and just have to jump on it before you lose it. My sister was giving birth to her very first baby. She looked up at her mom and told her she couldn’t hear. The doctor reassured her that everything was fine. She looked at her mother again and said a second time “No. I can’t hear anything”. At this time, she flatlined. They rushed the family out and hung up on her husband who was on the telephone because he was out of state. The doctors were able to save the baby. Oh she has a beautiful baby! They were able to bring my sister back as well, but she isn’t doing well. She suffered an amniotic fluid embolism. It is so rare that they say most doctors won’t ever see it in their careers. Most mothers do not survive this. She survived but has been in several different hospitals ever since. She has brain damage and doesn’t respond very much at all. Insurance won’t pay to have her in a long-term facility very much longer and she may have to be moved home. With my mom having to take care of her and the new baby, they could really use any help they can get. I’m hoping that we would be able to help them out this Christmas. You can read more about the family at sophiesmommy.com. Please consider this request. Thanks.

  3. I have a friend who just in the middle of September lost their 2 year old son to leukemia. He had only been diagnosed 1 month before and suffered a massive heart attack and passed away. He was on life support for several days before they had to make the decision to let him go. He has a younger sister who just turned 1 year. They live near Dallas Texas and I am sure they would be happy to have anything to help them out since they probably have a lot of hospital bills and a funeral to pay for. I have a Pampered Chef business and I am currently trying to have a party for them to help provide them a good Christmas too.

  5. If you are interested in helping out the “cancer children” of a family whose dad was diagnosed with terminal Metastatic Melanoma this summer let me know. I know they aren’t the ones with cancer but they are suffering so much having their life turned upside down by cancer.

  6. If you are looking for families that have a child a primary childrens for reasons other than cancer, there is a little boy who lives in my town in Northern Utah, that just last weekend ended up there unexpectedly (they thought he only had the flu) and now needs a heart transplant. His family says the average wait for a heart transplant is about 3 months. He is only 5 or 6. If you would like to read more about him you can on this webpage. https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/spencerfelt
