So it’s time to find a Halloween Costume for you and your family. Hopefully everyone has an idea of what they want to be. So now the search for the best price becomes your main concern.
I can tell you from experience that the SAME EXACT costume can be priced completely different at a number of different stores. In fact, I have seen the same costume priced as much as $15-$30 more at a different major retailer’s website. So how do you know when you are getting a deal? It’s time to price it out!
Step #1: Find the exact costume you want. (If there are similar version you are ok with too, that just makes your job easier.)
Step #2: Here are all of the stores I would search for that exact costumes. These hand-picked stores by me are stores that either drop prices regularly or have coupon codes on a regular basis to drop your costume price.
- BuyCostumes.com
- HalloweenCostumes.com
- SpiritHalloween.com
- CostumeCraze.com
- Walmart.com
- Target.com
- ToysRus.com
- Amazon.com
- DisneyStore.com
- Zulily.com (You will want to check their site each day to see if new Halloween Costume sales have started.)
Step #3: After checking for the costume on the sites I mentioned above, more than likely you should have a price point for the costume. For example, after checking the links above and searching for the best price on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Donatello Toddler Costume, this is what I found:
BuyCostumes: $29.99— WHAT?!!
HalloweenCostumes: $19.99
SpiritHalloween.com: $24.99
CostumeCraze.com: $22.94
Walmart.com: $16.97 –LOWEST PRICE
Target.com: $17.00 – If you have a RedCard, this price would actually be lowest.
Amazon.com: $17.42
Ok, can you see the drastic difference between all of these places?? Remember thatthese prices are before any coupon code they might have. So the cheapest place might change once you take that into effect. But the point I am trying to make is that you can’t just buy the costume as soon as you see it. More than likely another store has it cheaper—and with this example, almost $15 cheaper!!
Now imagine if you are shopping for 4-6 people in your family. That $15 per costume adds up fast!
MONEY-SAVING TIP: Any time you see me post a sale for Halloween Costumes on Freebies2Deals.com, do a quick check for the costumes you are searching for. Since you will have already done those 3 steps above, you will know the lowest starting price available for each costume you need to purchase. If you see your costume drop lower than that, you will know it is time to buy it! And you will have a calm mind knowing that you really did get an awesome price on it!
Does this take some time for each costume? Yep, it will take you about 5 Minutes or so for each costume to find your lowest price point. But if you could save up to $15 on each costume by taking 5 minutes, would it be worth it??

EBAY has some great costume deals as well. However, a lot come from out of the country so it can take 3-4 weeks to come so order NOW!

I too would recommend Ebay, I cross referenced between them and CostumeDiscounters.com to put my kids costumes together this year.

I get all my kids costumes at kid to kid. I got 3 costumes for $20 this year. I sold back the ones I bought there last year for $11. I found all the costumes my kids requested. My 6 year old is going to be batman, my 3 year old is going to be spiderman, and my baby is going as superman. They are all marvel costumes. They had a lot of Disney costumes too. They obviously don’t have Elsa or Anna or Lego because those just came out.
