I wanted to give you guys a heads up that Walmart has made a change on their Corporate Price Matching Policy. And it is a big change and one that everyone will want to make note of.
Before, we were allowed to Price Match a store-brand item to Walmart’s store-brand item. So you could use a Kroger Store Brand of Canned Fruit and Price Match it to Walmart’s Store Brand of Canned Fruit. Well…. it looks like that isn’t an option any more.
I checked today and Walmart’s Price Matching Policy no longer states that you can price match store brands. However, it also DOESN’T state that you can’t. So I am guessing we will find different store managers doing different things… and it might be that way for awhile.
Although there is a Corporate Price Matching Policy, I still find that store managers do things so differently. So if your store is one who has stopped Price Matching store brands, maybe check with another Walmart store to see if they are.
**As always, please make sure you are ALWAYS taking a copy of the Price Matching Policy when you shop at Walmart. It will help alleviate any problems you might run into with un-knowing cashiers or managers.
If you are new to Price Matching, you will want to read the “Price Matching: How it Works and How to Make it Work for You” post.
(Thanks Tamara!)

The Layton Walmart won’t allow it anymore. 🙠Syracuse just depends on the cashier, and I haven’t tried Clinton, but it looks like more and more are going towards this policy.

Thanks for the “heads up”. I’ll be sure not to cause a ruckus if it makes its way to Oklahoma. I’ve been a long time user of their competitive ad program & I’d hate to lose any of its perks!

It does say that it won’t “price match competitors private label price promotions” which is their store brand so it is in the policy that they can’t

Not sure exactly when this changed, but I didn’t have any issues matching store brand to store brand at the Centerville store last Friday.

Melea, I also wanted to let you know that their coupon policy has changed as well. I wrote about this last week on my site and it’s a biggie. They have changed it so cashier’s can no longer enter coupons manually so if it doesn’t scan (even if it’s a peelie or coupon from an insert) they will not accept it. Here is the link for the information I currently have: https://www.bargainswithbrittanie.com/walmart-stop-accepting-printable-coupons/

The Saratoga springs one pulled out ads last time I was there and wouldn’t price match if I didn’t have the ad and they didn’t either (I obviously didnt)
I did also have a teller that price matched with no ads for the Mexican woman in front of me (food and non food items) butbtold me they would only price match food (I had some razors and soap etc) I’m taking my business elsewhere the Saratoga Walmart doesn’t have their act together at all. (Plus AF tends to be cheaper and has better produce haha if I go the Walmart route)

It’s rather irritating that they changed their policy.
It completely defeats the purpose of
not going to mulitple stores to get the best deals.
Do you think if enough people complain about it they’ll
change it back? 😉

If you start a petition, I’ll most definitely add my name. However, thankfully there haven’t been any changes at my Wal-Mart. It does gripe me tho for those that have changed their policy. It seems like they can never make up their minds either for, how many times have they updated it? It has also always bothered me that not all of their stores practice the same rules esp w/ their commercials designed specifically for that program.
