How to Get Halloween Costumes FREE

It’s time to start shopping around for Halloween Costumes.  But before you do…. what about last year’s costumes? Did you only wear them once or twice?  Do they still look brand new?  Still have the packaging? If so, I thought I would remind you that you could actually get this year’s halloween costumes FREE — if you sell last year’s gently used costumes!

Here’s a few different ways to do it:

how to get your halloween costume for free

#1- List your costumes on eBay for FREE.  It looks like they are doing free insertion fees for just about everyone right now.  So you should be able to list your item (except any upgrade options) for free.

Plus, if you list and sell your costumes by October 31st, eBay will give you a $10 eBay Coupon 2 weeks after October 31st. You will then have to use it by the specified date.  **I’ve posted a lot of discounted Gift Card deals in the past.  So you should be able to use this “coupon” to drop the price of one of those discounted gift cards and get an even hotter deal.

And assuming you are buying a costume for around the same price as the costume you are selling, you could even MAKE MONEY and come out with new costume! SCORE!

To get this offer, you must go to this eBay Page and click the Activate Offer Now button PRIOR to listing your Halloween Items on eBay.  **You must also list your item(s) on eBay by September 21st to qualify! Here are the categories that qualify:

  • Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Costumes, Reenactment, Theater > Costumes
  • Home & Garden > Holiday & Seasonal Décor > Halloween
  • Toys & Hobbies > Preschool Toys & Pretend Play > Dress-Up, Costumes
  • Collectibles > Holiday & Seasonal > Halloween
  • Collectibles > Animation Art & Characters > Japanese, Anime > Final Fantasy > Cosplay, Costumes
  • Collectibles > Animation Art & Characters > Japanese, Anime > Fullmetal Alchemist > Cosplay, Costumes
  • Collectibles > Animation Art & Characters > Japanese, Anime > Naruto > Cosplay, Costumes
  • Collectibles > Decorative Collectibles > Decorative Collectible Brands > Enesco > Cherished Teddies > Halloween
  • Collectibles > Decorative Collectibles > Decorative Collectible Brands > Department 56 > Halloween
  • Collectibles > Disneyana > Contemporary (1968-Now) > Apparel & Accessories > Costumes
  • Collectibles > Science Fiction & Horror > Star Wars > Products, Non-Film Specific > Costumes, Masks
  • Pet Supplies > Dog Supplies > Costumes
  • Specialty Services > Custom Clothing & Jewelry > Costumes
  • Sporting Goods > Outdoor Sports > Equestrian > Stable, Care & Grooming > Horse Costumes

#2- Get your friends together and do a Halloween Costume SWAP.  You could even make it a party!  Bring all of your gently used costumes and what you paid for them attached to each costume. Then you can swap costumes with other Moms that are at similar price points.  Or agree to how you want to swap/exchange!

#3- Do a similar Swap/Exchange Party online.  Take pictures of your costumes and put together a FB group with people in your neighborhood, friends and family members.  You can set a time to all hop online and post/share pictures of your costumes to either sell or exchange.

#4- Take your costume to a consignment store.  You probably won’t get enough for your costume to make your next costume free. But this option will at least give you a little cash in your pocket.

And don’t forget to check out my post on How to Always Get the Best Price on Halloween Costumes!  It should help you out when you go to actually purchase the costumes you and your family wants.

Hope this helps you all with your Halloween Costume budget.  Happy EARLY Halloween!! 😉

  1. Hi! We are taking the kids to Disneyland the same time as the group. We have been following you the whole time and bought the Halloween Party tks as well. We didn’t do your hotels because we got a work discount somewhere else that was better. My question is, are you meeting up at all or anything fun we should know?

    • Hey Jasmin,

Since we are doing 2 trips this year, we can only afford to go on one. So our family we will be going to the one in December this year. So I won’t be there. But I know you will have a blast!

If you are doing the Halloween Party, you will have a total blast tho! Wish I could have gone on both trips!! 🙂
