Tips and Tricks to Save on Your Favorite Makeup Items! This is the Way to Get Your Makeup the CHEAPEST!

Makeup can be such a fun item to purchase.  There are always new colors and products to try out and fall in love with.  But if you aren’t careful, you will pay a lot of money to make updates to your cosmetic bag.

So that is why today we are going to be talking about Ways to Save Money on Makeup and share Tips and Tricks on How to Get Your Favorite Makeup Items for Cheap!

Ulta Beauty is BY FAR my favorite place to purchase makeup. The deals just can’t be beat.  If you don’t have a store in your area, you can still get the same deals online.  So keep that in mind when you read the rest of this money-saving post. 🙂

I am a huge, I mean HUGE fan of ULTA Makeup.  I tried it on a whim about 6 years ago before we even had a store in Utah and just couldn’t get enough.  Once the first store opened here, I was there on opening day waiting and ready to go!

I wear ULTA Eyeshadows just about every single day.  They wear great, they last a long time and the best part is that they are affordable. I also wear their lipgloss and lipsticks.  I feel like they have a better selection of colors than other makeup brands and of course their prices win out too!

Throughout the year, ULTA will have different makeup sales on their own products.  For example, right now they have a 2 for $4, 2 for $6 and 2 for $8 sale happening on their Eyeshadows, Eyeliner, Lipsticks, LipGloss, Blush and more. (Eyeshadows are regularly $8+)

You can head to ULTA.com at anytime and they will have a coupon available on the main page of their website. It is regularly $3.50 off $10 on ANY purchase. You can either print it out or take it to the store.  Or you can just show the cashier the coupon on your phone during checkout.  (For all of you who don’t have a ULTA storefront, you can use the same coupon online at ULTA.com.  Just use whatever coupon code they have listed.)

If I was to use that $3.50 off $10 ULTA coupon and stack it with the ULTA Makeup sale I mentioned above, I could score TWO Eyeshadows and TWO Eyeliners for only $6.50!  Now that is a steal! One Eyeshadow is regularly $8.00!

How to Save Money on Expensive Makeup Brands

ULTA also carries the more expensive brands like Smashbox, Urban Decay and Benefit. They are constantly doing promotions on them.  Recently, I got a box of travel-size goodies from Smashbox just by purchasing their Photofinish Primer.

You can use the ULTA coupons when they come out on these brands as well.  However, you will need to read the fine print of the coupon.  Sometimes they have exclusions or limitations on certain products within each brand.  But even if you can’t get a deal on it, you will earn points with your Ulta Rewards Card to use towards a future purchase! (More details on that later.)

The Cheapest Way to Get Drugstore/Grocery Store Makeup Brands

I know drugstores like CVS and Walgreens do a Buy 1, Get 1 50% off sale on brands like CoverGirl, Maybelline and L’Oreal throughout the year.  And if you are a couponer, you can usually find a coupon from Coupons.com or Redplum.com to save some extra money.  Or thumb through your Sunday Newspaper and check the Coupon Inserts to find a coupon that will work. BUT, those coupons are typically at most $1.00 off. So even with a Mascara that costs $8.99 at a Buy 1, Get 1 50% off sale, you are only getting each tube of Mascara for $5.75.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a great way to save money.  But if you don’t want to go through that coupon hassle, you can head to ULTA instead!  They do Buy 1, Get 50% off sales all of the time online and in-store. Pull out that $3.50 off $10 coupon I mentioned earlier and use it on the purchase. You will only end up paying $5.00 per tube of mascara that normally costs $8.99!  (**For those of you who do use coupons, ULTA accepts manufacturer coupons as well!  So, use those $1.00 off coupons you have on hand plus the ULTA coupon and it will drop each tube of Mascara down to only $4.00!)

See what I mean??  There are so many great deals, it’s insane!

Use the ULTAmate Rewards Card to Get Money Off Future Purchases

ULTA Beauty has recently changed their rewards program.  You used to just get a rewards certificate for different free beauty items every few months.  But now they are allowing you to accrue 1 Point for Every Dollar You Spend.  Then you can redeem those points whenever you want towards ANY purchase you make as soon as you hit 100 points. So if you purchase all of your makeup and beauty items at ULTA, you will have rewards money to spend towards those more expensive makeup items you can’t ever seem to get a discount on!

You will also get a FREE CK One Signature Mascara for your Birthday!! I love getting hooked up on my Birthday. It’s my favorite Holiday of the year! 😉

If you don’t have an ULTA Beauty Rewards Card, head over to ULTA and sign up.  It’s free and takes just a few seconds.  After you do, ULTA will start mailing you their monthly sales ad.  There is always a coupon of some sort you can use.  So make sure you start getting it.  Then you will know when your favorite makeup items go on sale. And then you can stack the coupon savings on top of it!

Get FREE Samples with Every Online Purchase

Once word starts to get out about ULTA Beauty… if it hasn’t already…. you will find that your store might be out of stock of the items you are wanting.  If you do decide to purchase online, you will get FREE samples sent to you as well.  Some of my most favorite makeup items I first got as a free sample.  After that, I was hooked!  Plus, it is always great to try out a product before you spend money on it.

Shipping is usually free with a $50 purchase.  But they also do sales where shipping is free with a $25 purchase– and I have seen them do a FREE Shipping No Minimum promotion a time or two before as well.
