If you live in a town with a lot of couponers, chances are that you will go to the store and find that the items you wanted to purchase with your coupons are long gone. Unfortunately, it happens a lot. But, you can get around it!
What to Do if Your Items are Sold Out
1- Ask for a Rain Check. Many stores do this and they are super easy to get. Just head over to customer service and ask if they do Rain Checks. If they do, they will give you a piece of paper that will give you anywhere from a few weeks to a month to come back to the store and purchase the same item for the price you were going to get it for. And, you can still use your coupons. So think of it as getting the same deal… just a week or so later when they have more of that product in-stock!
2- Another way to get around items being out of stock is to go on re-stocking day. Most stores have shipments come in 2-3 times a week. Just ask the manager when more are coming in and at what day and time. You will also want to ask what time those products will be put on the floor. Then, you can arrange to show up around that time and grab the items you need.
3- One trick that I use is to go to different stores. Some of the stores around me are highly populated with couponers. So, I choose to travel a little further to other stores that seem to have more items in stock on a regular basis. It may take a little more in driving time. But it is worth it to me.
What if I Need to Order Big Quantities?
If you need to order a bunch of a particular item, you can usually make a special order with whoever manages that department. The store will make a special order just for you and call you when it comes in. Then, you can checkout with your coupons. The best part about this is that you didn’t clear the shelves for others who might be wanting to get 1 or 2 of the product. So everyone is happy!
