Problems with Your Email Being Hacked?? PLEASE Read!

Many of you have had your email hacked and don’t even know it.  But I do, because you forward on your email virus to me.  I’m getting tons and tons of your emails with a random link in it.  (The virus).

To see if this has happened to you, go to your sent folder and see if any unusual emails have gone out with a URL link in them. MOST importantly, if you do get an email like this- don’t click on the link to see where it goes.  Once you do, the virus can then send emails from your account to people on your list.

So, rule of thumb.  Just don’t click anything when you don’t know where the link goes to.

If you have been hacked, you will want to change your email address ASAP and send out an email to everyone who was sent the Virus Email to let them know not to click on it.

Right now, I have had to block all messages coming from email addresses with the Virus in it.  Which means in the future, if you are trying to reach me for a Freebies2Deals related question, I won’t ever get it.

Check your accounts to make sure you are in the clear!  You don’t want to spread this.

  1. This is getting worse. I am seeing more and more spam of virus links on some of the Yahoo groups I am on. It is a pain.

  2. I have had over 10 of these emails from friends and family in the last 24 hours!! Be very careful. On another note: I received another virus alert and with the holidays coming this could really mess people up. It shows an email being sent from UPS, as an undeliverable package. When you click on the link to get details you are completely invaded by a nasty virus. Hope non of you get this one!!

  3. I discovered that my email had been hacked because Google locked my account and made me go through some fairly extensive account verification to make sure it was me. When Google saw that my email was accessed from Hong Kong with bulk email being sent out, they immediately froze it. So what could have been a potentially nasty situation turned out to be a good experience. Go Google! (They know everything about me, so why fight it, right?)

  4. I have also had SO many friends emails get hacked recently & my husband's hotmail account was hacked even though he never uses it or ever clicked a link. Further warning: be wary of emails sent from friends claiming they are out of the country & are stranded & need money. My poor parents email was hacked (by clicking the link sent to them by my husband's hotmail account) & the hackers not only gained complete control of their email account by changing their passwords but they sent out an email to all their contacts claiming they were in London & had everything stolen at gunpoint & now that need money. Several of the their friends called just make sure & one almost sent money to an off shore account trying to help them! Talk about an evasion of their privacy & their time. It's getting scary.

  5. I've received links from my siblings hacked accounts with something to the affect of , "Hey! Check this out, its awesome!" Blah, blah, blah, but the grammar is horrible and they don't talk like that, etc. So the links aren't always by themselves or begging for money. Just be careful!

  6. Just a note, I was hacked awhile back and had emails sent out from my account. I went to my SENT folder to see what had been sent and it DID NOT show any of the emails that were sent. And I know they WERE sent out through my email because friends told me about it. Strange. Also, I changed my password immediately and haven't had a problem. One thing I've noticed, these emails with the link usually come with 'No Subject' as the subject. Now when I see an email from a "friend" that says 'No Subject', I immediately delete it and don't even look at them.I HATE HACKERS! Why do they find joy in ruining others' lives?!

  7. yeah they stink…you just have to change your password and all is good again normally generally no need to change your e-mail address. Mine was hacked and sent out just a link to everyone…I don't know how many clicked it but my parents were hacked too with the stuck in london send money…no fun.

  8. It's sending them to my alternate email. I haven't opened them cause I know what they are.. but it's driving me CRAZY! Today I deleted all my contacts in my yahoo account. So hopefully I won't be getting anymore in my gmail account cause all my yahoo addresses are gone now.

  9. Ya this happened to me just this morning on my email account I send junk to. I didn't click on any emails, but my password was not a very hard one, so I think that is how they got in and did this. I changed my password and deleted all my contacts, so I hope that will fix it. I did a search on the link that it sent out, but I couldn't find any information on the virus or what exactly to do to get rid of it.

  10. I had tried to access both of my AOL e-mail accounts via my cell phone earlier today and it asked me to put in my password as it had been changed, which it had not been, and I thought that maybe it was just a glitch until I saw this… I wonder if it was somehow hacked and then they changed my password and then changed it back for some reason. I have never had this happen before and I have been with the same phone provider for 7 years, so I am pretty sure it is not the phone or service, especially because it did it for 5 or 6 hours. There is also no way I could have received and e-mail from anyone to both accounts as there are only two people who have both addresses, and I didn't receive an e-mail to both accounts from either of them. So I started looking into this more, looking at my security and I noticed that it had put an application as trusted, but I can not find the application in that location any longer. It is an .exe file, and I wouldn't have thought anything of it other than it was installed today for the Shop At Home toolbar I installed weeks ago. I wonder if their system was somehow hacked and getting e-mail information. I did sign into both e-mail accounts today while the Shop At Home toolbar was on. Does anyone have any ideas about this being the possibility? I am kinda' new to couponing and don't want to ruffle any feathers or anything, it just seems really odd to me. This is just crazy! I am afraid to send any e-mail or to change my password. What is this world coming to?
