Have you Noticed the "Limit of 4 Like Coupons" Verbage?

The newest sets of P&G Coupons have a new saying on them “Limit of 4 Like Coupons”.  Have you noticed?  Basically, they are limiting how many of the same coupon you can use in one transaction. So, if there is an item that is Free after coupon or another great deal, you can only purchase up to 4.

I have my own thoughts and ideas on why P&G is doing this. And I also know that P&G has put a limit on coupons in the past when coupons became really popular (like they are now).

But I want to know what your thoughts are on this.  Do you think this is a good thing to limit the number of coupons you can use?

  1. you know people will just separate their transactions, so it's just going to make shopping more of a pain…but it won't stop people!

  2. I think it's a great idea but people will find ways to get around it. I personally only subscribe to four papers and whenever there is an awesome deal on something I have to get a rain check because the shelves are cleared. It would be wonderful if everyone could score the deals not just the people that make it a full time job!

  3. So my problem is that Walmart would only let me use ONE… they said the "system" wouldn't allow more and they read the first part that said "limit one coupon per purchase of products and quantities stated." Any help?

  4. I think it's great. I'm sure there will be many who will just do multiple transactions but I think if people do it "fairly" and in accordance with what P&G says then it might allow a few more people to actually score on the deal rather than 1 or 2 people clearing out a stores inventory of a great sale item. Are you going to share your thoughts?

  5. I think that if you are paying to get the paper with the coupons in it, it should not matter how many you are buying

  6. I think it is good. On double coupon days we have had people who have filled their carts up with 20 rolls of paper towels. But if the cashiers aren't educated on this how will that work will they not ring through? What has been people's experience with these coupons?

  7. I think that its a good thing, but I don't think that it will stop people from buying 10 – 20 items. Limits are put into place to allow everyone to get a few. However, people are very creative in the ways they obtain freebies and bypass the restrictions, by doing multiple transactions, having each child do their own transaction etc. Coupons like P&G coupons having limits on them doesn't make sense to me though. P&G offers some of the lowest coupon savings compared to other brands.

  8. I don't think the limits really matter, there is always a way around that obstacle. I get 6 papers, one for each family member. I don't think it will change the way I shop. What I think this will do is cause confusion at the retailer. I know some of us already have issues using coupons, this may or may not add to it. Hopefully with the "new limits" in place P & G will start putting out better coupons!

  9. It's a great idea. I'm tired of empty shelves an hour after the store opens, I mean, it's one thing to be frugal and another thing to be greedy.

  10. Part of me is happy with this because like most have said, it would be nice to get some of the deals that I'm not able to usually because I'm at work or can't make it when the store opens. But another part of me likes it when there's actually a sale item still available and I want to grab lots while I can. There are just some things that you can never have too much of and when you can get them that cheap, it would be nice. But. . .it is what it is. . .people will find their way around the system!

  11. I think it is a good thing, however, walmart has given me grief over it. According to them, it's a limit of 4 total p&g coupons, not 4 like items. It has been frustrating.

  12. I just canceled my 4 Daily Herald papers, so it's not a big deal to me. I thought this last Sunday's coupons were a complete waste of time, there were three or four I would have ever used. You really have to evaluate if your time is worth clipping all those coupons, then running to the store and having not one item you were interested in on the shelves. Are the manufacturers scaling back?? Do you know?

  13. In Las Vegas we get our coupons in the mail regardless of how many papers we subscribe to. One set of P&G….period! Although there have been times when I wished it was otherwise, it has meant no clearing of the shelves issues. Also here, Targets only accept ONE LIKE TARGET Q no matter what, so many of the Target really great deals posted do not even apply to us. BUMMER!! It would not surprise me if other manufactureeres also do the same.
