So it looks like some big changes are coming from Walgreens in September! For all of you who just got hang of the Register Rewards system, it might not last much longer. We will have to wait and see what Walgreens decides to do with that once the Balance Rewards system has been working for awhile. (They say they are going to keep it around… but you just never know. Let’s cross our fingers.)
Here are some of the details from the Balance Rewards Program:
- You can sign up as early as September 2nd. And the Balance Rewards Program will offically start Sept. 16th.
- Earn points for purchases in-store and online, prescriptions, immunizations and making healthy choices.
- Redeem points instantly or keep them and redeem them later.
- Get exclusive savings on items in the store in conjunction with Register Rewards.
If you want to see the full details of this new Balance Rewards Program, you can check out this fact sheet.
Once I have more info, I will let you guys know. But for now, here is your heads up on a potentially huge change coming our way.

I was at my Walgreens just the other day for a Rx. I was told of the new card coming so its made it’s way to Oklahoma. Normally, that’d be a good thing since I LOVE CVS Pharmacies program!! However, w/ all of the negative on-line buzz, sadly I’m not looking forward to it. However, I am most grateful to know about the change before it comes. Now, I won’t be as shocked. Thank you for that buffer. : )
Lately, I haven’t been shopping there. They haven’t been having the awesome sales & register rewards as in the past.

I think this new system is going to be wonderful. Trying to teach people how to use RR is very confusing and is one of the hardest coupon aspects to grasp. I think Walgreens has amazing sales and this will be wonderful for all those people who are trying to break into the Walgreens couponing and not have the hassle of RR anymore! Yeah! Can’t wait for Sept!

If it runs like the previous rewards system it will be good. I liked getting the gift certificates to go shopping for the stuff you don’t get coupons for. It saddened me when it went away. I actually stopped shopping there like I used to.
