Utah Readers: Summer Reading Kickoff Celebration & Other Summer Reading Programs

  • Utah State Fair Read and Win: Children who read 10 books can earn free admission to the state fair, a voucher for a free carnival ride, and a free small lemonade.
  • Sylvan Learning Centers: Sign your children up for the online summer reading program Book Adventure by Sylvan Learning Centers. Children can earn rewards like Highlights subscriptions and books.
  • Davis County Fair Read and Win: Children can earn a free carnival ride or cotton candy by completing 10 books before the fair begins. The fair runs from August 15-August 18th.
  • Governor’s Reading Challange: Each year the Utah Governor’s office hosts a summer reading challenge. There are prizes and rewards for children who log summer reading hours.

  2. Salt Lake County Library Systems also has summer reading programs for kids, teens, and adults with prizes and a few drawings at the end.
