- On Saturday, June 9th, participating McDonald locations and the Governor’s Commission on Literacy will be hosting a Summer Reading Kickoff Celebration. The celebration will begin at 1:00pm and last until 4:00pm. The fist 100 kids at each participating McDonald’s will receive a free scholastic book and free ice cream.
- The Salt Lake City Library System will begin their summer reading program on June 9th as well. All city library locations will be celebrating with various activities for kids to participate in.
- Utah State Fair Read and Win: Children who read 10 books can earn free admission to the state fair, a voucher for a free carnival ride, and a free small lemonade.
- Summer Reading and Imagination Destination: Children can earn a free book from Barnes & Noble.
- Sylvan Learning Centers: Sign your children up for the online summer reading program Book Adventure by Sylvan Learning Centers. Children can earn rewards like Highlights subscriptions and books.
- Dream Big Read (Provo Library): Provo City Library has a summer reading program with prizes, events, and an end of summer party.
- Dream Big Read (Tooele Library): Tooele City Library has a summer reading program with prizes, events and rewards.
- Davis County Fair Read and Win: Children can earn a free carnival ride or cotton candy by completing 10 books before the fair begins. The fair runs from August 15-August 18th.
- Governor’s Reading Challange: Each year the Utah Governor’s office hosts a summer reading challenge. There are prizes and rewards for children who log summer reading hours.
