Last year, I wrote a post helping all of you to know what a good price on Halloween Candy was.. here is a portion of it for everyone who wasn’t a F2D reader last year:

Halloween Candy is expensive!  Every year  I notic people purchasing Candy at unbelievable prices.  But, when I think back to what I paid before I knew about coupons and finding deals, I was probably like that too!

First of all, let me say that everyone is completely different.  You may think my price point is too high, or too low for you- all depending on your lifestyle and your time.  And that is totally ok!  I just thought I would share my thoughts on it, in case any of you are interested.

In my humble opinion, any small Fun Size Bag of Candy around the $1.50 mark  or lower is Killer!  You will see them advertised for so much more than that.  But expect crazy deals to be popping up all over… especially with your coupons!

  1. I agree with the $1.50 mark–actually, that’s still a little too high for me :).
I start looking for good deals and coupons in August, and if I wait patiently, I can usually get a couple of bags at a time here and there, so I don’t have to end up paying full-price at the last minute.
    Good luck all!!!

(ps. I think Rite Aid recently added some Video Values candy coupons)

  2. Can I just give someone my money and let them shop for my Halloween candy at super low prices?! lol I live in a small town where there are almost no chain stores, so a good deal on candy like this is when I can get them 2 for $5, which isn’t very often. ðŸ™

  5. Smith’s has snickers, milky way, and 3 musketeer on for $2, and there was a coupon in last weeks RP for $1.50/3. I grabbed 3 today – sale probably goes until Tuesday.

  6. The price of Halloween candy by the bag is deceiving, because each bag has a different number of pieces. I looked at the qty per bag of fun size Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups (@Albertsons, 4bg/$8 or $2bg) and there are 14 pieces in the bag. At $2bg that is still 0.14 per cup….which is not a good price. Even if you can get this particular bag down to $1.50, it is still nearly 0.11 per cup! If I remember correctly, I think the Snickers has 15 per bag, and the Twix might be 21…both much better prices per piece.

Are you familiar with the 10pks of fun size bars?? They are usually at Walgreens/Rite Aid for $1; so that is 0.10 per piece. Keep your eyes open for this packaging size, as it will often go on sale for 0.80/pkg (0.08/piece) and just buy a ton of them!!!! 🙂

  7. I get Halloween candy when it goes on clearance after Halloween. I save it in a box in my cool basement (of course it goes there when all my kids are in school and my hubby is at work). Last year I made a KILLER deal on starburst fun size, they were marked down to $1.50 at Wal-Mart on the day after Halloween and we had $1.00 off 1 bag coupons. I got 6 or so bags for .50. I already have my Halloween candy bought a year in advance!
