We kind of knew this may be on the horizon, but it is now official. Gymboree Inc. will officially be declaring Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. I received an email tonight, as I’m sure many other loyal customers did, from the CEO of the company explaining that all Gymboree, Gymboree Outlet and Crazy 8 retail locations and websites will be closing. They will try to keep Janie & Jack up and running through a sale of that retailer.
Several retail locations have closed over the last year or so, hinting that the company was struggling to maintain a profit in these changing tides of retail. While we don’t have a timeline as to when all stores and websites will close down we know the process will begin soon.
Typically when a store closes, we will see some great discounts and store closing sales. I am sure this will be no different and while it is great to find deals as a shopper, we never like to see people’s livelihoods compromised in the process. We are sad to see this long time retailer, and a personal favorite of mine, shut it’s doors and close down shop for good. Thanks for creating quality children’s clothing at an affordable cost for decades. Allowing our children to play rough and look great at the same time.
