The Nielsen Home Scanner Program is accepting applicants again! (It’s actually called National Consumer Panel now.)This is a great thing for stay-at-home moms to earn free rewards. If you are accepted, they will send you a hand held scanner to use while you shop. Every item you decide to purchase, you will quickly scan the items. You can use it at grocery stores, clothing stores and on health and beauty items. Pretty much anything you buy, you scan. Then, once a week, you will connect the scanner to your computer and send the info to NCP. Easy and quick!
For your efforts, you will earn points for name-brand merchandise like electronics, jewelry, household stuff, toys and more!
Plus, if you have kids, this is the PERFECT thing to keep them occupied while you shop! They get really excited about scanning items.
NCP does not accept new applications very often. So you will want to go over here and fill out the questionairre. They have specific requirements and demographics they are looking for.
I am STILL on a waiting list… but I’m waiting patiently because this is something I really want to be a part of! I know some of you guys actually got accepted the last time they were accepting applicants! So I am totally happy for you guys.. but just little jealous. 🙂
** You need to have a PC. If you only have a Mac, the scanner is not compatible. (Thanks Lori!)

I was accepted to do this and have a Mac computer instead of a PC and you can't do it with a Mac. Just and FYI for those with Macs. The scanner software and stuff is only for PC's.

i have been thier for a couple of years. so far got sleeping bag,pizza stone,electric car warmer blanket. colman lamp. also for a year a shoot off me and my daught earned at least 5 a month from them.

I was a panelist with Nielsen for about a year and just sent my scanner back a couple months ago. I have to say it was a big pain in the butt to spend 20 extra minutes after I got home from shopping scanning everything before I could put it away. Not to mention it takes FOREVER to redeem enough points for anything in their catalog. They would send a couple free gifts every now and then, but nothing that made all the hassle worth while. Just thought you might want to have an opinion of someone who wasn't too impressed with it before you waist a lot of time trying to get accepted into their program.I do however want to thank you for all the other great deals you make me aware of every day!

I just found out I was accepted and they are sending me the equipment! Can't you just scan the stuff at the time you are purchasing? Would love to hear about others who know of or who have been doing this! Thanks Melea for all you do! I am hooked!

Heather-That is so awesome! I am seriously so jealous! From what people have told me, you just scan anything and everything you buy. Then just hook it up to your computer and send the info to them.

I did it for a year and I agree with the lady that said its a pain in the butt you have to go down your shopping reciept and scan every iteam type in how much you paid for it, was it on sale was it on display. and it took forever for me to get enough points to get a bbq set and one day out of the blue they called me and said ok we don't need you anymore send your scanner back.

I just got an email telling me that my scanner has been shipped, so I guess I'm off the waiting list. Hopefully it will be worth it. I'll let you know what I think after I start using it.
