Since we have been talking a lot about saving money on Travel (our LAST “How to Save on Hawaii” Travel Post will be going up tomorrow), I thought I would hurry and share this crazy deal that popped up today. It’s a great example of booking things and being ready when it pops up!
Right now, Emirates is offering two roundtrip tickets from JFK to Milan, Italy for only $799! It’s part of their Valentine’s Day Special. Must be booked by Jan 22, 2015. And you must travel sometime from January 25th- May 10th.
$400 RT from JFK to Italy is amazing! Since I know a lot of you probably don’t live in New York, this is where you would also look for a cheap flight from your home city to JFK and then make the connecting flight. Depending on where you live, it might only be a few hundred dollars more and you could go on a dream trip to Italy for super cheap! So here’s your heads up that this deal is out there.. in case you want to book it.

Since I do not know anything about Europe, and we would like to see friends in Italy, and friends in Switzerland and do some geneology while we are there, would it be best to go through a travel agency? Could they get this deal for us, or should we book it, and then work with an agency?

This really is a pretty common price. Remember that there are huge taxes when flying to Europe that usually double (sometimes more than) the fair. You can get fairs like this pretty easily through most travel agencies quite often plus, they can help you line up tours and help you plan your time there. Also, this airline isn’t very good.

There is an 11 day cruise hitting Rome, Naples, Spain, etc. for only $399. Combine the two and you have a cheap but AWESOME vacation!

We found ours last year on Expedia. I saw one there a couple of weeks ago—there seem to be killer cruise deals this time of year!

I can’t figure out how to book this? When I go on the page that shows the special and press “book it,” it doesn’t show that discounted price any where? Is there a promotional code that I am supposed to put in?

Just found out. They are completely sold out of these tickets for every single day of the promotion. Dang.
