  1. We did this with my daughter and I was amazed at how well prepared for Kindergarten she was. It also allows you to add other kids up to Grade 3 (I think) so they can do it too. It is absolutely worth it!

    • They call you when it gets closer. I registered my son when he was 1 lol then did the same with the other son as well.

We loved it until our drive fully stopped working (it was never fully working and I got no help) now It has been weeks since my son has been able to do it 🙁 I am hoping to just find a preschool for my other son, but I guess this will be there just in case. they only have 2 techs for their whole system so getting tech help is insanely hard.

  5. They will contact you if you are selected. Then you go downtown for a training session with your child to learn how to use the program. Someone will be assigned to call you each month and see how your child is doing. You can follow their progress online. This program is the BEST ever. My son completed it, and was way ahead by the time he started kindergarten. He is in first grade now and is on a second grade reading level. He loves to read and does so easily. The program also teaches math and science. It is engaging and very well done. You can call the staff any time and they will help you with any questions. This program made a huge difference for my family. My son used to be very shy. His new reading skills helped him to become very outgoing and confident.

  6. My daughter is using it this year and hands down we love it…. sometime around spring they will call you and ask a series of questions, if you don’t have internet or a computer no worries they lend you a computer or pay for you to have internet. Then after they do the initial questions with you, by august you hear if you get in and then you go to a training meeting and get everything needed to start your child. I feel so grateful my daughter got in because this has been an awesome preschool program. It has her almost reading now and it just keeps building her confidence.

  7. My daughter used this last year and I was so impressed I registered my other two boys right away. I wish I would have known about it for my oldest son. If you do not get in you can purchase it for a limited amount of time. It is definitely worth the money and the program is amazing! They usually start letting you know in March.

  8. I did this with my daughter and she was reading before she entered kindergarten. It is great because it advances as your child advances.

    • The Waterford Institute has a site online where you can purchase Rusty and Rosy materials. You could ask someone in customer service if thereare software products available to purchase since you live out of state.

      • You can purchase the reading software, but not the math and science.

  10. I’ve never heard of this before but my daughter is starting kindergarten in fall of 2015 so I really hope we get picked! This would be SO perfect for her!

Question for you moms that already have had your children do this, did you Only do this or did you put them in an actual preschool as well??

    • I had my son in a preschool program as well as doing the Upstart program. The Upstart Waterford program taught him how to read, as well as some math and science. The actual preschool was good for socializing with other kids, making crafts, going on field trips, parties, and playing games on the playground. It was good to have him in both, one for academics, and one for socialization.

  11. My daughter is doing the program right now and it is so great! I initially got a letter saying we didn’t get selected to participate but that I would be put on the waiting list. I was really bummed but then a month or two later I got a call saying that there were some openings if I still wanted my daughter to do it. I think that if you don’t keep up with the 5 times a week requirement then they make you return the software (which is why there were some openings). Anyways, I have been doing some home preschool with my daughter along with the program but I love that the program reinforces what I am already teaching her. Also I tend to focus on crafty projects and games that get her moving in our home school time since she already gets the sit down time in front of the computer. Anyways, good luck to everyone that signs up, I hope you get in!!!
