Are your kids begging to play sports or do another activity that they love? Are you stressing because of lack of funds? I get it! As a mom of three with 2 of them being in school basketball as well as on club basketball teams, I know just how expensive it all can be.

With the current world situation going on, my daughter’s club team just found out that they get to play in 3 tournaments this summer! This, of course, is great news, but we were honestly not expecting to hear this. Plus, our daughter is also getting her license this summer so we have purchased a car and encountered a significant increase in our auto insurance. All of these reasons combined had us less prepared for the expense as we normally are.

My kid is awesome though and she thought of some ideas to raise money so that mom and dad wouldn’t be completely responsible for it. These 3 Tips for earning money for kids’ extracurriculars have helped us pay completely for her tournaments and it will even help with our lodging and travel!

3 Tips for Earning Money for Kids’ Extracurriculars

Collect Cans and Bottles

If you live in a redemption state, have your kids run their own personal bottle drive. You won’t believe the amount of money that you will come up with doing this. People love to donate to a good cause, especially a good cause for someone they know. She posted on her FB page that she is raising money so that she could help her parents pay for all of the fees, and I then shared  her social media post to my wall. We literally have to take 4 or 5 trips to our local bottle redemption center to take them all in. She has easily made $100 like this.

Accept Donations

When people learned that she was collecting bottles and cans for her tournaments, a couple of them actually donated cans AND money. It wasn’t asked for or expected, but several people said that they were impressed by what she was doing and they wanted to help out even more.

Create and Sell Stuff

My daughter happens to be a very good artist and is selling some of her paintings to raise money. She feels bad charging for art, so she charges a small amount. So far everyone is donating even more money to get her where she needs to be.
