Have you begun decorating for Halloween yet? I have been seeing some adorable, fun and super scary decorations as I drive through my neighborhood lately. Some of the decorations I know cost a lot, but I also have seen some awesome decorative pieces that look awesome, but also look like they are probably homemade. I am going on vacation for a week right before Halloween, so I haven’t put too much focus on my home this Halloween, but I have in the past and I know how to decorate on the cheap!
If you are looking for ways to get your house ready to scare up some neighbors, but you don’t want to spend a fortune, here are 5 tips for saving on Halloween decor:
- Use nature. This is my favorite way to decorate for Halloween! Use straw, old corn stalks, dead grass, etc.
- Use old clothes. Last year I used some of my husband’s old work clothes and filled them up with straw and other dried vegetation I found around my property. I then put a fake pumpkin as the head. This literally cost me $0.99 total and it got lots of compliments.
- Check out the dollar store. The dollar store is a great place to find inexpensive holiday decor.
- Use food. Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins. Is there any better Halloween decor? I mean, Halloween is all about the pumpkins, am I right? Check out your local farm stand for inexpensive pumpkins.
- Thrift Shop. The thrift store is a great place to shop for Halloween. From decor to costumes, you can find some really great deals on just about everything for this holiday. I like to go to my local Goodwill for this because they actually carry quite a few brand new items at a great price.
