You guys! This is huge! Amazon has just purchased Whole Foods Market for 13.7 billion dollars! The possibilities with this partnership are endless. If you haven’t heard, Amazon has launched their Amazon Fresh program in select cities throughout the country. This program has been quite successful in those cities. Acquiring Whole Foods is going to take that program to another level! Not only will it put Amazon on the grocery forefront for online retailers, but it will also open up opportunities for brick and morter shops.
A few Amazon bookstores have already opened throughout the country. Do you guys remember all the buzz about the Amazon Go retail stores? The one where you don’t have to check out. You just enter the store, add what you want to your basket, and then your Amazon account is automatically charged as you leave. This partnership could make that idea a reality sooner rather than later.
