UPDATE: It looks like the pre-access to watching the digital version 4 days early is only applying to if you purchase the Digital Copy Only for $17.99. Sorry for the misunderstanding guys! The way I read it, I thought it was referring to giving access to it digitally online 4 days early–like they have done with other movies in the past. It’s still a great deal and if you choose the 2-day shipping option, it will arrive ON Tuesday too.
I know there are a lot of Star Wars fans out there. And actually, pre-ordering is the way to go lately because stores have been raising the prices on release day on a lot of new release DVDs. So the first way to save is by actually pre-ordering and the sometimes there are other perks too!
If you pre-order through Amazon over on this page for only $19.99, you can actually get access to watch it digitally on April 1st (tomorrow!)! That’s 4 days before the official release date. Woo-Hoo! It also includes a deleted “Tunnel Scene” from the movie. That would be a fun surprise for your kids this weekend–or to watch as an at-home date night!
Other stores have it available as a pre-order as well— at different prices though. So make sure you watch that:
Walmart has the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Combo Pack for $24.96 with free in-store pickup.
Target has the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Combo Pack for $19.99 or $24.99 depending on the version you pick. Shipping is free at $25 or free with a Target Red Card.
Best Buy has lots of different versions of Stars Wars: The Force Awakens. If you want a Limited Edition, Steel book version or bonus content, I would check out their site too!
Also don’t forget that since Disney bought out Lucas Films (The Star Wars Franchise) that you should be able to earn Disney Rewards Points to add to your Disney Movie Rewards account. You can turn those points in for different products like Free movies, Free Disney Gift Cards and even FREE Travel!

I pre-ordered on Monday from Amazon. Do you know if I still get access to the digital copy early?
Cara
The way I am understanding the info on Amazon is that you have to PURCHASE the digital version or pre-order the digital version and then you get to watch it 4 days earlier before it “actually” is released. You don’t get to watch it just by purchasing the blu-ray combo.
Ann
That was my understanding as well. I think I want the actual physical Blu-Ray, not just the digital version.
Kristy
I believe you are right- if you bought a hard copy, the digital access code will be physically inside it, so you can’t use it until you get t he movie. If you paid for a digital download then you would be able to watch it tomorrow.
Christy
I pre-ordered the digital version on iTunes… do you know how we redeem points for DMR?
Yvonne
Darn it. Oh well, I was planning on buying anyway. Still a happy camper.
