Who doesn’t love shopping at Target? With over 1,800 locations carrying a wide variety of apparel, home decor, beauty products, grocery items, and more, it’s easy to see why Target is one of everyone’s favorite stores. If you’re one of the millions of people who regularly shop at Target, take a look at these tips to maximize your savings.

Use the Cartwheel and Target App
These apps are fantastic for saving money while shopping at Target. The Cartwheel app shows you certain items at Target that are from 5% to 50% off. These items could be children’s apparel, kitchen products, groceries, or pretty much anything sold at Target. Simply browse the app to view what items you can save on, add them to “my cartwheel”, and show the discount bar code to the cashier at checkout. To save even more money, check out the Target app for coupons that can be used on top of your Cartwheel discounts! You can download both of these apps on iTunes or Google Play.

Check the Target Ads
Target always has great items on sale. Take a look at their weekly ads to see what promotions are going on. They rotate their ads every Sunday so that gives you a week to take advantage of the savings.

Sign up for the Target REDcard
If you have ever shopped at Target, I’m sure you’ve been asked “Would you like to sign up for the REDcard today?” and passed on the offer. Taking the few extra minutes to sign up for the REDcard is worth it. They have two options for the card. You can apply for the credit card or if your credit isn’t that good, they can link the card directly to your bank account so it’s just like a debit card. Either way, each time you use the REDcard, you get 5% back on your purchase. If you are an avid Target shopper, this is an easy way to save money.

Take Advantage of Clearance Items
Clearance items are most people’s favorite way to save a few bucks. Target’s clearance selection is always full of great items that you’d actually want to buy. Most of the items are either 30%, 50%, or 75% off once they go to clearance. A helpful trick to saving as much as you can while shopping clearance items is to look at the price ending. If it ends in $.06 or $.08, that items is most likely going to be marked down even more and if the price ends in $.04, that is the final clearance price.

Shop Holiday Markdowns
Target offers markdowns throughout the year but they are the best after holidays.

If you’re one of those people who like to shop for next year’s holiday season, these markdowns were made for you. Target’s seasonal items are usually marked down 50% off day after the holiday, 75% off a few days after, and 90% off about a week after. Once it’s a week after the holiday, there’s typically not much left so try shopping during each tier of the markdown to make sure you get a chance as the items you might want.

Take Advantage of Discount Codes & Coupons
If you’re looking to save an extra buck at Target, be sure to shop on their online store and take advantage of many available discount codes. Target’s online store accepts coupon codes at checkout that will help you save even more on there already marked down prices! Coupon websites like Mamma.com allow users to find coupons for online retailers including Target.

So, the next time you’re at Target, give these tips a try and see yourself how easy it is to save more on the products you love.
