On the facebook post, Melea commented that she would email Ibotta and ask them if it can be done (getting on her team if we’re already signed up)

How can I be in your team if I’m already on Ibotta? My friend sent me a link asking me to be on her team and its only the two of us. Just wondering if we can be on more than one team do you know? I’d like the chance to make our cash back more on a big team than just a team of two 🙂

We have to be friends on facebook and then we are automatically on each others teams. I am Belinda VanHouten…friend me on facebook. Meiea I hope you friend me too.

Maybe I can clarify some things. First off you can NOT be on someone’s team by joining them through facebook. So far you can only be on someone’s team if you join using a new and unique device and use their referral code. So for those individuals asking if you can join Melea’s team and you already have the app installed you are out of luck UNLESS you sign up on a DIFFERENT device that has never had the Ibotta app installed and use Melea’s code. For example, if you have Ibotta already loaded on your iphone, you could open a new account on an ipad using a different email address, again using Melea’s code to be on her team or basically have her as one of your teammates. I hope I didn’t confuse anyone. Lastly, everyone that joins Melea’s team is NOT on your team. Melea will be on your team or your teammate, since you signed up under her, but then it’s up to you to get people to sign up using YOUR unique referral code. Those are the people on YOUR team. I know, it’s crazy to wrap your brain around it. Another example, my husband and mother are signed up with my referral code so they are on MY team and my teammates, but they are NOT on each other’s team. My sister signed up using my mother’s referral code (again, she is on MY team), but since my sister joined up under my mother, my sister is NOT on my team or teammate.

Thanks for the explanation Wendy! The teamwork aspect is really the only thing about Ibotta that drives me nuts. I want more teammates, but joined after a lot of friends and family had and I dislike having no way to add them. Maybe if we all write Ibotta we can talk them into changing that. 🙂

I had others join my team by syncing with Facebook…don’t know why it didn’t work for others.

Christine, thanks for posting this. I went back to the Ibotta website and this is cut and paste re: facebook friends. “Your team, which can be found under the Teamwork tab, consists of all of your Facebook friends that have an Ibotta account and have linked their Facebook with their account. To be on another Ibotta user’s team, you need to be friends on Facebook. It’s as simple as that! Once you are Facebook friends, you should see each other added to your respective teams within a 24 hour time frame.” So it sounds like you have to link you Facebook account as well. Thanks again Christine, it’s so hard wading through all the information on their website.
