I’ve heard about Resurrection Eggs, but I’ve never used them before with my family. But instead of Easter always being about a Bunny, I would love a fun way to incorporate what Easter is really about. And these Resurrection Eggs look like a great way to do it!
I found a couple of sets on Amazon that are marked down right now. So if you ordered with two day shipping (or your FREE 2-Day Shipping option with Prime), you would have them in time for Easter Sunday.
Depending on your religious beliefs about Easter and how it all happened, I’m sure you could tweak the kits any way you needed to make it work for your family. But looking at the kits, they typically have a little donkey, silver coins, chalice, praying hands, whip, rooster, crown of thorns, nails in the shape of a cross, spear, linen cloth, stone and an empty one to represent the resurrection. So it basically goes along with the Bible version of the Resurrection.
I know I’ve also seen a bunch of “Make at Home” Resurrection Egg Kits on Pinterest that I’ve pinned over here. But with Easter being a couple days away, I don’t really have the time to put something together and make it good enough to last year after year. Story of my life, LOL. I always do things last-minute. 😉
So now my question… Have you heard of these before and have you used them??? I’m just about ready to purchase it and test it out myself!

We do this every year, and it is my sons favorite part of Easter. We do other Easter eggs as well, but he loves to do the Easter story.

My mom did this with us as kids and I have my own set that I do with my children now. They will love it! It will become a treasured tradition.
BUY IT!!!
This also makes a great relief society activity, for the ladies to put them together for their families.

My mother-in-law gave us several years ago. I have used them as part of my Primary Easter lesson the last couple of years. The kids seems to like figuring out what the object inside has to do with Easter and reading a scripture about it. My daughter isn’t quite to an age where she understands yet…just that they are plastics eggs that don’t have candy. But, I look forward to teaching her about Easter with them next year and years to come.

I have them. There is also a book called the Resurrection Eggs that goes with it. You can also make your own set, using simple items to represent the story.

Warning! There is a cross in this set of eggs…The Mormon church doesn’t regard the cross. Melea, I pray for you and other Mormons that you would be willing to read the New Testament with the eyes of a child…specifically the books Romans, Galatians, and 1 John (Galatians and 1 John are only a few chapters and can be read in less than 20 minutes)… and ask God to open your heart and mind to his word. Jesus loves you and only asks for you to believe that his suffering and ultimate death on that cross are enough for you to be saved from your sins. He paid your full cost…you don’t have to do anything else because its ALL been done. There is freedom when you actually believe this, not freedom TO sin, but freedom FROM sin and when you realize that Jesus paid it ALL and all you have to do is believe in your heart that he is your savior ALREADY, you will live your life as His disciple. Your obedience and good works will be BECAUSE of your salvation, not to earn it 🙂 I can speak for both sides because I was a faithful and devout Mormon for nearly 35 years until I actually decided to read the Bible and was shocked at what the Bible says vs what I had been taught.

We have used this in our family for over 10 years. Mine is one I made using the symbols that mean most to our beliefs.

I’ve used the “Resurrection eggs” before although I didn’t know that’s what they were called until this year. It’s much cheaper to build your own set. There are lots of ideas on Pinterest where you can print out the scripture to go along with it. I did this late at night on Saturday and had all of the items in my house (my set didn’t include a donkey so maybe that’s why I had everything) and had the entire thing done in about 10 minutes and spent about $1.50 for a dozen plastic eggs (I’m estimating cost, I bought a large bag to use for other Easter related things). I love what you said about using these eggs “depending on your religious beliefs about Easter and how it all happened..” I think that is the benefit of making your own set so that you can cater to your religious beliefs and not worry about throwing things out that you might not use otherwise.

You can use your own plastic eggs and supplies and create your own Ressurection Eggs without purchasing, as we have done

I made my own a few years ago and my girls love it! It is a fun easy way to make sure we remember what Easter is about. I also use it in my primary class for our Easter lesson and the kids really enjoy finding out what is in the egg and what it symbolizes. Definitely worth it!

I think it is better to do something last minute than not at all.

Dear Kathy,
The Mormon church DOES regard the cross. The atonement is key to our beliefs. We choose to focus on the joy of His life rather than His suffering and death on the cross. That is why we don’t use it in our decorating. By no means do we ignore its great meaning. The cross definitely belongs in these resurrection eggs.
