First off, thank you SO SO SO much for letting me have a break from Christmas through New Years. I really appreciate it! And I’m sure you guys needed the break too. Deal hunting can be exhausting, right??! 😉

Now that Freebies2Deals is back, there are a few things I wanted to touch base on:

1- It’s my most favorite time of the year: Clearance!! All of the Holiday Clearance should be super discounted by now. You should see 70%-90% off at most stores. So stock up on items you want and store them away for next year.

2- After New Year’s, which is now, means that everything else starts to go on clearance too. Stores start to make room for Spring merchandise. Yep, you will even see Swimsuits already out! (I actually bought one at Target for my trip … I couldn’t help it! You will see more details on that below and why I needed it. ;))

So here are a few tips:

  • Check the inside end-caps of stores like Target for all of the clearanced items. (It’s the least traveled parts of the aisles and also has the biggest discounts.)
  • Stay away from the BULK items that stores tend to put out this time of year. I am mainly talking about Target. Each year they do this “buy in bulk section” located where the Christmas items used to be. It can be appealing because it everything is put together so nicely. And if you are a Costco shopper, you might assume there are great deals. In past experiences with that section, deals are few and far in between. It’s usually cheaper to purchase those items elsewhere with either Price Matching or Coupons. If you wait until those items go on clearance, then you might start to find some pretty great deals though. 🙂
  • Winter gear will start to go on Clearance too—- snow boots, coats even Snow Blowers start to go on sale and clearance in the next two months. So keep watching.
  • Remember that coupons ALWAYS stack on top of a clearance or sale price. So you could really grab some crazy deals with printable coupons from Coupons.com or from coupons from your Sunday Newspaper.
  • Scan your items. Prices change quickly. And when half of the store is marked down, store employees aren’t able to keep up with re-marking items with the lower prices. Target and Walmart both have scanners located throughout the store to price check and see how much something costs. Using one of these scanners to check clearance priceswill tell you what the actual price is… and in my experience has usually been lower than what is marked! It totally makes your day when that happens!

3- In case you missed my earlier post this morning, Jordan and I are looking for volunteers for our MECCA Conference THIS Saturday. If you want a FREE ticket to MECCA and are willing to work during the event, check out my previous post here and get details and apply. We only need 8 helpers. So not everyone can come for free. But it could be a great way to attend if money is tight or if you didn’t purchase tickets before they sold out.

4- Each year I plan a getaway to a different location during Christmas Break. This year, we chose Hawaii. (Took that picture above… NO filter! Gorgeous, right?? ) Christmas/Black Friday/ Cyber Monday is always such a stressful time of year for Freebies2Deals and having a break with absolutely nothing to do and nothing to post about is the perfect re-charge to get me excited to post again in January. I have had so many of you ask me here and on Instagram to share how I got such a killer deal to Hawaii, where we stayed, how we saved money on the trip… so I will be doing a fun Saving Money on Travel series this next week or two here on Freebies2Deals.com and on Instagram. So make sure you are watching and following along. Our family loves to travel and we travel a lot. So finding affordable ways to do that is really important to us and I definitely want to share any tips I can to help you and your family get away too!

Love you all! 2015 is going to rock!

xoxo
