  2. A great gift idea, but the mixes are so expensive to buy!

    • That is exactly what I was going to say!

      • If you get on pinterest there are all kinds of recipes put together just for the easy bake oven. I have never bought a mix for her easy bake oven. I also know that my neighbor just buys those Betty Crocker mixes that come in a bag where you just have to add water or a few ingredients. Her daughters use what they want and then bakes the rest in the oven.

  3. This is such a fantastic gift to give away to children so that they learn to cook and bake for themselves and for others from a young age, and it’s a beautiful little oven!

  4. I honestly hate the easy bake oven. The food is terrible, and very expensive. There are other baking kits out there that kids can use in the kitchen, to help them REALLY learn how to cook. When we got the EBO a few years ago, we used up the few mixes it came with, then it sat. Until it got tossed in the garbage. (My kids choice).

  5. I LOVED my easy bake oven as a child! My little one is a bit too young for one now, BUT I already have a game plan to avoid the expensive and not so tasty refills. Make your own! I suggested it to a friend and we found a lot of recipes online (Pintrest has a bunch) and they taste/work great!

  7. Oh my gosh, this is so cute. I don’t even have any little girls, would it be weird if I ‘accidentally’ bought it for my son and then kept it for myself?! ;o)

    • My husband said he always wanted one of these . . . not because he wanted to bake, of course, but because he wanted access to baked goods. 😉

  8. The mixes are expensive and often old. This is cute but I think you’re better off buying a boxed mix on sale with coupons inexpensively and bake with your child. My eight-year-old son can make brownies with a caramel swirl with supervision.

It! Same price at Walmart. Got it and it had a coupon for $5 off
So got it for $30. Yeah

  12. I too have fond memories of mine growing up!! I’m a product of the 1960s. I had a boy (now in college) but, I bet he would have LOVED using it as a child. He had a play kitchen & was always mixing up some pretend concoctions for me w/ play food.

I also LOVE the idea of making your own mixes!! Kudos to the person/persons who came up w/ that idea & recipes!!

  13. Awesome. My daughter has been asking for one for years. I told her that when she learned to read we could get her one, so that she could help me read the recipes. She is now 6 and beginning to read more fluently, I think this Christmas she’ll be ready! I don’t imagine we will ever buy extra mixes. We’ll just make our own.
