Nielsen Consumer Spots Open Again!

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

For everyone who hasn’t applied, Nielsen is currently looking for more Consumer Panelists! Spots usually fill up pretty fast with these guys.

All you need to do is fill out the Nielsen questionnaire and if you meet their current requirements, you will receive a home scanner in the mail. You will then scan all of your home purchases with the scanner and upload the information through your computer and the information will be sent to Nielsen Consumer Panel. You will earn points for each scan & send task and you can redeem your points for electronics, toys, gift cards and more. You will also be entered into drawings for cash prizes!

Some people really like Nielsen and others say it takes too much of their time. If you do get accepted, however, if doesn’t hurt to try it out— because not everyone does get accepted. If you decide it’s not for you, just send back your scanner at NO cost to you and you’ll be done!

  2. I was sent a scanner a year ago and I ended up sending it back after a few months. It took forever to scan every item I’d purchased. Was not for me.

  3. I agree with Angela – I sent mine back after a few months. It is SO much work – it really does take up a TON of time and it’s not worth it for how long it takes to rack up points for anything worth getting in their store.

  4. I just was sent a scanner and agree that the time commitment is high…I’ll be trying it for a few weeks to try to earn at least 1 reward before I send the scanner back. If I had just 15 minutes more per day, I think it would definitely be worth it!

  5. I did this for about 6 months, but I just couldn’t keep up with scanning EVERYTHING. I have 5 kids, so a lot of groceries, so the time commitment was too high for me :).

  8. Looks like a good idea but maybe only if you have the time for it? Might be worth a try.

  10. I tried this out for about 2 months. I agree that the time commitment was high, but I also had a lot of trouble getting my scanner to transmit the information. There may have been a compatibility problem with the scanner and my computer. It got too frusterating for me.

  14. I did this a few years ago. It takes quite a bit of time to scan everything you buy, but they also have you catagorize the produce and manually type in how much that you bought it for/how much of it. Maybe they have changed that since I did it a few years ago, but that got a little tedious for me because I buy a lot of produce. Also as others said, it does take a while to build up points for rewards. They do send free gifts occasionally though. 🙂
