Heads Up!  UPSTART has more openings available!  So if you missed this post last time, or weren’t able to get in, you can still register your child for this upcoming year’s Preschool program!  I’ve heard awesome things about it!

Have preschool age children at home? Pre-registration has begun in Utah for UPSTART the Waterford Institute’s FREE In-Home Preschool Program!

This program is available to children who are entering kindergarten fall 2015.

If you are unfamiliar with this program, UPSTART is a free, in-home preschool program that uses award-winning Waterford Institute learning software to teach preschool-aged children reading, math and science.

Just 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week with this program has proven to successfully prepare more than 7,000 Utah children for kindergarten. In fact, most children graduate from UPSTART already at an advanced kindergarten level.

  1. We did this program with my daughter 2 years ago and it was great! I wish I would have known about it with my older son. I have my third child Zack starting it this fall and I put my 2 year old on the list as soon as he was born. IT IS GREAT! This gives kids a great boost for kindergarten.

  3. We are currently doing this program and love it, our daughter knows the sounds to all the letters, and they have her reading. The math and science is also great as well. We couldn’t be happier with the knowledge she has gained going before Kindergarten.

  4. Seriously an amazing program!!! My oldest is reading at a 1st grade level and is well ahead for kindergarten! I promptly put my 3 year old on the list and as soon as she was born, I put my newborn on the list as well! If you don’t qualify for UPSTART you can purchase the software for $240.00, which is $20/month! That’s cheaper than any preschool you can get them into and it is research-based so you know it will be worthwhile!

    • If I buy it do you think my three year old could do it, or would it be too advanced? I signed him up for next year but who knows if he will get in.

      • My 2 1/2 year old played a little bit but mostly watched his older sister and learned the alphabet song on his own. He could totally do it.

      • We have done this for the last 2 years. You can add four other kids onto the program and so I had my 2 year old do it when we first got it. I had to help her use the mouse for the first couple months, but then she picked up on it and can do it all by herself! It’s amazing! At 2 she learned how to spell her name as well as learning all the letter names and sounds. She is currently learning about rhyming and syllables and she just turned 3. I would recommend this program to ANYONE with young children! My kindergartener was the top reader in all the kindergarten classes from the beginning of school! Start them as young as possible!

How would I go about purchasing the software? My poor little one has a birthday of Sept 2 so he doesn’t qualify until the following year. We have already enrolled him in a private preschool this year and plan to do the same for kindergarten so he is not forced to wait another year. He is beyond ready for preschool and he is going to be 3 soon. Any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

  5. Just moved to Ohio. Do you have to live in Utah?

    • I believe you do but go to the website and give them a call to see if they offer it in your area.

  7. I know others have said this already but, I just wanted to add to their comments that this online preschool is great. I will say that the 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week is just reading and if you want to do the math and science you have to do the program for longer. However, my daughter loved it so much I had to tell her to turn it off or she would have been on it for hours.
