It’s back! If you missed this post before, it’s a great card to help manage your money… or the money of your kids!
This is something pretty cool that American Express and Walmart have come out with. It’s called the American Express Bluebird Card. But instead of being a credit card, it is just like checking/savings card– but you have the American Express Credit Card Features! The best part is that they WON’T PULL YOUR CREDIT SCORE because it isn’t an actual credit card!
Basically you would register for your card. Then you can direct deposit your paychecks to the card, use it for Bill Pay and deposit checks with their mobile app.
There’s no annual, monthly, or overdraft fees and no minimum balance required.
If you have teenagers or college students, this would be a perfect card for you. You can set up Sub-Accounts under your card. You can add money to your child’s card, put spending limits on it and turn ATM access on or off. The child just has to be 13 years or older to get their own card. Then you can help teach them how to manage their money and help them do it!

From the research I have done, it sounds like the AMEX Bluebird card is a super-charged checking/savings/debit card. There will be similar things you have through your bank or credit union. However, there are a lot of really cool perks and extras added with the Bluebird that a lot of us might want!

My friend just got one for her son. They are located by the gift cards at every cash register in Walmart. My husband and I each have one that we load our gas money and each of our spending expenses on for the week. Mine includes our grocery budget also. We love it!! It helps us stay on budget and eliminates a million transactions on the checking account register.
