Some of you might already know this tip, but if you don’t, listen up.  It will save you even more money on Black Friday and on the rest of your Holiday Shopping!

Right now, think of the stores that you will definitely be shopping at during the Holiday Season.  Is it ToysRus, Target, Kohl’s, JC Penney or The Apple Store?  No matter which stores you have in mind, you can probably purchase a discounted gift card for them!

When people get a gift card that they don’t want, they can actually sell it to gift card companies who will pay them cash. Then, these same companies will turn around and sell them for a discounted price!

You do have to be careful who you purchase from.  So I would recommend only purchasing from Discounted Gift Card companies that have a good BBB Rating.  Here are my favorites:

Raise.com:  They have an A- Rating with the Better Business Bureau and are accredited with them.  So, these guys are legit! And, right now, purchase at least $60 in gift cards from them – to any store(s)– and you can use code RAISE60AF to get an extra $5 off!

For example, purchase a ToysRus Gift Card with $88.38 on it for only $80.87.  Take off that extra $5 and it ends up being $75.87 for that $88 Gift Card.  Then, when you go to use your gift card, you can combine it with any promotions and coupons they have on the toys you want to purchase!

Cardpool.com:  They have an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau and are accredited with them as well!  These guys have a huge assortment of stores to choose from.  So, if you can’t find it on Raise.com, you can search through Cardpool to find the store you want.

So, let’s re-cap:

  1. Think of the stores you will definitely be buying from in the next two weeks
  2. Purchase discounted gift cards from either of the two legit companies I listed above. They will ship to you free.
  3. Once you have them, keep them on hand for Holiday Shopping, Black Friday Shopping, and Cyber Monday. Before you purchase, each gift card will tell you whether you can use it online, in-store or both.
  4. Then, when you go to purchase your hot deals, use your coupons and discounts… don’t forget to pay with your discounted gift card!

Combining the coupons, discounts and promos WITH the discounted gift card is what will really stretch your money further this holiday season!

**Heads up, inventory changes quickly.  They only have a limited amount of certain gift cards on-hand and in-stock.

    • They even have electronic cards I’ve used when I didn’t have time for them to mail a card. Saved a bundle on everything from clothes at Kohl’s to a snowblower at Sears.

  16. what a great way to save if you know you need something from that store! Not so great as a gift itself because of the odd values some have, but it makes sense to buy these and then use them at the store.

  17. Do the cards come in the mail or are they electronic so you can use them immediately? If mailed, need to keep mailing time. Great idea!

  20. Also, at Smith’s you can often get 4x rewards points for buying giftcards. That ends up saving you quite a bit on gas-so that is another option for saving money!

  63. Another way to stretch your money with giftcards is to buy them from a Kroger store when they’re doing the 4X point promotion- they always do it before Christmas. If you’ll be spending money at those stores anyways, might as well earn gas rewards at the same time. Gas rewards can add up fast. Plus I can buy the giftcards with my Amex points card and get travel points at the same time. Win-win-win.
