So now, rather than padding your order to get to a $25 amount, you will need to reach the new $35 amount if you want to score the free Super Saver Shipping.
Of course, if you don’t want to hassle with Super Saver Shipping at all, you can always sign up for a FREE 30-Day Trial of Amazon Prime! You will get FREE 2-Day Shipping on anything that is sold by Amazon.com with no minimum amount required! Now that is really cool and a feature that is SO nice to have when prices start dropping, or you find a lightning deal to grab.
Here is what you do:
- Sign up for Amazon’s 30 Day Trial of Amazon Prime
- Your benefits will start right away!
- If you don’t want to upgrade to a paid membership, you can opt out at any time during the free trial period via the Manage Your Prime Membership page. You will want to make sure you do this, so you aren’t automatically charged $79 for the year’s subscription after the 30-day trial.
As an Amazon Prime Member, you will also get unlimited instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows with Prime Instant Videos!
Have you already done your Free Trial??
If you have already done your free trial of Amazon Prime, I would seriously consider doing the Annual Membership for $79. I know it is a hefty price, but for an entire year of FREE Shipping, it is well worth it, especially with the new increase to $35 with the Super Saver Shipping. Think about how much you shop online and if your shipping costs add up fast, or if you spend a lot of time going to the store to grab the deal because you don’t have free shipping, this may be a really good option for you!
PLUS, “Prime members under a free trial or paid subscription can share their shipping benefits with up to 4 additional family members living in the same household, or up to 4 coworkers to shop for the related account.” So, that is definitely an added benefit as well!

Another benefit to the Prime is that I can buy something for someone else and have it shipped Two-Day Free shipping! That really helps around Christmas time!

Another option, if you or your spouse are a college student and have a college email address, you can sign up for amazon prime with a student account. I believe your yearly cost is $39 for up to 3 years.

Melea,
Just wondering if you pay for the prime program? Do you think it is worth the money?
Melea Johnson
Yeah, I broke down and did it about 2 years ago. Best decision I ever made. I know $79 sounds like a lot. But I do a majority of my shopping online and almost all of my shopping during the Holidays from Amazon. They just have the best prices…

Awhile ago I got free shipping through a free trial of Amazon Moms. I bought a TON of stuff off Amazon. Since my shipping was free I bought with hardly giving it a second thought. Once my free trial expired, I have found a ton of free stuff that I would have bought in a second back in the day, but I’m not willing to pay shipping or “pad my order”. So, essentially for people like me Amazon ends up losing a ton of money. Obviously Amazon is doing just fine without me as a customer, but I find that I’ve just ended up not buying a bunch of stuff that I didn’t really NEED.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up.
