Our family is getting ready to move!!  We have thought about it for a long time and everything seemed to finally fall into place at the same time… and the decision happened extremely fast. Since we will be purchasing a new home, we will have to put down a good chunk of change. Even though we have a savings, we still want to put down as much money as we can. We have a few months before we will move into our new home… but what does that mean now?  Living extra, extra frugal and saving as much money as we can!

I think just about everyone goes though times in their lives where money is super tight.  And Living on the Cheap is the only option you have to make ends meet.  You might go through financial hard times, lose your job, have unforseen medical expenses….I mean there are a lot of things that can happen that make you really have to watch every penny you spend.

My personal belief is that if you do all that you can on your end, that God will make up the difference and help you through those hard financial times.  But, we have to be doing our part.  With that said, I will be doing a new series here on Freebies2Deals.  It will be all about Living on the Cheap!  Living on the Cheap does not mean you can never go out or have fun.  But, you just have to be a little smarter about what you spend your money on.  There are a lot of cheap or free activities you can do all year long.  Plus, I will be sharing other things you can do to stretch your dollars a little further!

Hope you guys are excited about these upcoming posts and I hope it can help some of you who are in one of those “Living on the Cheap” moments! 🙂

    • Stephanie I wanted to do the same with my first child. Now we have 2 under a 4 and 2 yr old and my three nieces are now living with me and my husband. They’re 7,12,13 . Our lives have changed so much in the last year. For the better thank God ! But now I’m pregnan with twins (my prayer before meeting my husband was to have twins on the first go…lol). I’m not complaining just learning to be wiser with spending and saving for that matter.
I posted this because I have an awesome company I work from home with. It may or may not be something for you but just wanted to you of the option. If any ones interested it’s best to email me and I will respond accordingly please be a little patient since I do have small ones at home during the day.

  10. I am so excited for this!! We are working on making it possible for me to quit my job to be a full time Mom now that we are expecting baby number 4 next year! I know the only way it will work is if I start doing my part now so we can have a bigger nest egg and have been trying to figure it all out on my own. Love that I will have this as a help too! Thanks so much for all you do!!

  18. So excited for you and your family! We just bought a new home, too! I actually just got off the phone with a furniture store to see if they would honor a coupon that I just got in the mail yesterday. We made a purchase with them over a week ago, so I didn’t think they would honor the coupon, but called anyways. They said they would honor it and are deducting the $100 from our 0% financing account that we opened with them. I don’t even have to go back to the store! I just have to email a picture of the coupon! Never hurts to ask! Good luck with your move!

  20. I’m looking forward to this! We are living with my parents right now while my husband is changing careers and trying to save as much money as we can so that when he gets his new job (hopefully!) we can buy a house too. Can’t wait to see your tips!

  21. My family is also moving. We are finally moving closer to my parents. Since my husband started his new job last week and we haven’t closed on either house yet, we moved in with my parents for the next 5 weeks. So saving money is huge right now. Since we still have stuff in our other house, I already cancelled the cable/internet there and unplugged everything but the fridge, freezer, and stove. After being gone for 6 days, our last gas/electric bill already dropped over $30. My food stock up has been a blessing while getting settled at my parent’s house and packing at the old house, I don’t have to worry about going grocery shopping except for the fresh stuff. Thank you for teaching me how to stock up groceries for cheap!

  23. Love that you mentioned that if you do all you can, God will do the rest. This is pretty much my motto in life….with anything – school, work, whatever! I’ve never found it to not be true.

  26. I love this! I’m looking forward to your new series. I so agree with you. When you do your best, God makes up the difference. Recently, the transmission went out on our new (to us 😉 minivan during our move across the country. My husband had just finished medical school and we’d welcomed baby #3 just a month before. Funny how everything happens at once sometimes. I’ve never felt so poor in my life. But we were blessed to make it through. Thank you for sharing so many ways to help us save money and prepare for future.

    • I am excited to follow this. Congrads on the new home. I think the best part of “living on the cheap” is teaching our kids to live below their means, learn to reuse and recycle and to value the things we have. I know my family has plenty as an middle class American family but we live below our means. I know so many who have name brand everything but have no savings and live month to month and that would just freak me out. BTW: they make much more $ than we do but are broke. Thanks so much for this site. I love it!

  32. Like everyone else I am excited for this new series. Unlike most of the women that use this blog I am a single young adult, and still could use any tips to help my money go farther. Anyone under any circumstances could use tips like this, to help them and others at the same time. Good luck, thank you for all you do.
