Update: Looks like Entertainment is in the middle of a buy out and that the company doing so will continue to run Entertainment Book as before! Here are the details!

If you haven’t heard, I thought I would let you all know that Entertainment Book has filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

If you have already purchased a book, I would assume that those coupons are still valid- and will be until they expire since those promotions were paid for and locked into place beforehand.  However, you might run into problems with some stores refusing to honor discounts- since there isn’t a company to hold them to it.  I am guessing that will happen rarely though.

If you don’t have an Entertainment Book- please do not place orders from this point forward.  Their website is still open for orders and they shouldn’t be.

If I hear anything else, I will let you know!

  3. This is so sad. I have 3 of them right now so I am really hoping they continue to accept them. Has anybody had any problems?

  5. As a business owner it shocks me when businesses refuse to accept coupons because company’s like this go out of business. We had some vouchers for Davis Lanes in Layton from City Deals. Because City Deals went out of business (or whatever it was that happened, change of ownership I guess) Dave Lanes would not accept our coupon. Do you think our family has gone back their since? Nope! All the manager could tell us was about how Davis Lanes would lose money if they honored it. Sorry, but they lost way more money by not honoring it. Apparently we could have had a credit towards City Deals. Yeah right! Like I would ever use City Deals again! It sucks to take a hit as a business owner, but in my opinion, that is part of business. I knew it wouldn’t be all safe all the time. Okay now that I’ve rambled, I don’t even have a book, but I hope the businesses will do the right thing.

  7. So far vendors have accepted valid coupons here in parts of San Antonio from existing books but when they owe you a refund because there was an issue, like they do m ($120), they do not pay up. You get a letter from their bankruptcy attorney (I did).
