We purchased this Angelcare Monitor when Rockwell was born. It is something I would tell any worrying mother to have. If your baby stops breathing in the middle of the night for longer than 20 seconds, an alarm will sound. SIDS is something that every Mom worries about. So, it just helped me sleep better at night because I knew I would get woken up if something was wrong. The alarm did go off twice. Not sure if it was just a little sleep apnea, or if it could have been something worse. But thankfully, we didn’t have to find out.
If you can afford it, I would definitely get one of these if you have a newborn on the way. It is so worth of the piece of mind!
**Tip: In order to get this device to work properly, you will need to put a piece of plywood under the crib mattress for the sensor pad to sit on. As long as you place the baby in the middle of the crib and have the sensor set to high sensitivity, it will work awesome!

Just to let you know, I have also been watching this on Amazon and it does drop to about 118 every month or so. 🙂 Thanks for everything you do, Melea!

I have had this monitor since my first child was born, who will be 5 in June, and it works amazing! I love it! It’s just now starting to lose some of the clarity on the screens, but like I said it’s been on almost everyday for the last 5 years, I have two younger kids as well, so someone is almost always napping at my house.

Does the baby have to be sleeping right on the pad in order for it to work? I want to get one but I worry that they baby will move off the pad and it won’t work.

If they are a roller, that is when we stop using it. I think this is perfect for the first 4-5 months- before they start rolling. We also roll up towels and place them on both sides of the baby so they can’t roll accidentally on their stomach. I figure once they can roll they are strong enough to move their head and neck if they rolled onto their face. 🙂
