freebies2deals- no more coupon clipping

Clipping coupons is great!  And it saves our family a ton of money. So I clip coupons each week.  But to be honest, it isn’t ideal for everyone.  But just because you aren’t a coupon clipper doesn’t mean you can’t still save money!

Here are a few ways to Save Money WITHOUT Clipping Coupons:

freebies2deals- redcard

1- Sign up for a Target Red Debit Card!!  This is not a credit card.  No credit is pulled.  The Target Red Debit Card basically just pulls money directly out of your Checking Account each time you use it. But the perk for using it?  An extra 5% off anything you purchase online or in-store.  Plus, if you use it online, your order will ALWAYS ship free!!  If you are already paying with your bank issued debit card, might as well get a Debit Red Card and get the extra 5% off.  It adds up quickly! You can take a voided check into Target and they will help you set it up. Or give them your Driver’s License and they can give you the information to submit your banking info online when you get home.

2- Target also offers Mobile Coupons.  Just do a little texting and the coupons load right to your phone.  Hand them your phone at checkout, and those coupons come right off your bill.

  • Text the word OFFERS to 827438.
  • You can also sign up for Baby offers by texting the word BABY to 827438.
  • And, text the word HEALTH to 827438 to get any pharmacy or health offers.
  • As a special promo, Target is offering $10 off a $40 Household Purchase this week only.  You can text text SPRINGCLEAN to 827438. **For deal scenarios on how to use this coupon, make sure to check out the Target Weekly Deals post
  • Remember that Standard text messaging and data rates apply

3- Use Facebook Coupons to your advantage.  Most stores will allow you to just show the Facebook offer on your phone.  You don’t need to clip or print anything out.  For example, Old Navy ALWAYS has a coupon on their Facebook Page. So if you are out shopping, don’t have a coupon or forgot yours, just pull the offer up on your phone.

4-There is also something new called “Offers” on Facebook.  You have probably seen them.  Companies will put out an offer on their wall that you can claim. Once you do, it will be emailed to you and you can show that coupon on your phone to the establishment for your discount.

freebies2deals- ecoupons

5-If you are not a coupon clipper, you will want to head over to your Kroger Owned Grocery Store and add all of the eCoupons to your Shopper’s Card.  For example, Smith’s has a Fresh Values Card that you can load a ton of coupons on.  Just check the coupons you want to add.  Then, when you head to checkout, those coupons come off automatically when you scan your card.  If you don’t clip coupons, add all of them.  That way, you won’t have to worry about it.  If you do clip coupons, only add eCoupons that you don’t already have paper versions of.  If you don’t, the eCoupon will come off and your paper coupon won’t be accepted.  And in most cases, the paper versions have a higher value.

  1. The Target “HEALTH” coupon text replied with “Target Fall OTV Coupon SMS: This program is temp. inactive.” Then gives a number to call or to visit target.com

    • OTC Coupon not OTV. Sorry.

  3. Not for stores but for services you can often get a discount just for calling and asking. I recently called dish network and was able to reduce my bill by $17 a month just for asking for a better deal.

    • I did the same thing about a year and a half ago with DirecTV and saved $30 a month for 2 years. It’s about to expire so I decided instead of paying $100 a month for television service, I put it on hold (I’m not under contract so it’s allowed for up to 6 months). If you have an HDTV you can buy an indoor antenna that’s a flat piece of plastic and most people can get about 30 channels in their area. It usually includes ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox in addition to others. It’s excellent quality and we can watch Netflix/Hulu Plus for only $16 a month if you have both. Now I’m saving more than $100 a month because they were going to raise the rates!

  4. I signed up for the Target Red Card but didn’t see the fine print that they would give away my phone number. That very night/morning I was awakened by a solicitor’s text at 5 am. I got a few more messages and it bugged me so much I canceled the card. 5% isn’t worth the hassle of the first 48 hours for me. Maybe there is a way to opt out of that part of the deal?

  5. What works for me is just not going to the store! It’s amazing how much less I am spending. I was getting four copies of the paper and clipped A LOT of coupons. I also went to lots of different stores A LOT. It was WAY too much for me and I was still spending quite a bit of money even though I was getting things for free and cheap. So when my paper deal expired, I thought I’d try taking a coupon break and seeing what I could do.

Not getting coupons and going to the store less is working! I try and only go once a month if possible! And not using coupons helps us eat healthier too! I get huge amounts of meat on sale and freeze (like the Zycon chicken Melea told us about!) For produce I help run a co-op at my house for my neighborhood where I get my produce twice/month (it’s awesome, kind of like Bountiful Baskets, but we choose all our foods!… anyone in the Utah area can run a co-op if you want more info!) I am actually saving so much more money by not getting and clipping coupons! I still follow Melea’s awesome site, but only get what I REALLY need online. And then I hardly ever go to the store. When I do go to the store I take the opportunity to stock up on whatever the red hot deals are for that week. My food storage has been keeping up fine this way, along with the case lot sales.

Hope that helps somebody, it’s been awesome for my big family!

    • Karen, I started doing the same thing about a year ago. No purposely but because I got lazy. I realized that if I didn’t spend money, I was saving money. However, I do still look for coupons while I’m out (sure could have used that Sports Authority one yesterday, dummy me!) and I try to look for coupons on things I know I’m going to spend money on before I leave the house. I hate carrying my coupons with me but I think I should because sometimes I just don’t know what I’m going to buy. I also save time by just placing my inserts into a binder and looking at databases for where the coupon might be.

  6. A lot of these seem to use a smart phone that would involve having a data plan. And I see how that would work for some people who use a data plan, I choose to not have a smart phone because I am a stay at home mom and have a computer at my access. I think a data plan would cost more than the discount I would get at the store using phone coupons. For us, we have saved a lot of money just by looking at our phone plan and not paying for more than we need.
Also a great way to save 5% at Target is through the pharmacy. Every time you fill 5 prescriptions they send you a 5% discount coupon.

  7. I have saved a LOT of money by going to nickel auctions. Gently used items are auctioned off starting at a nickel. It is awesome. A great way to buy and sell pretty much anything. LOVE IT.

  8. My iPhone has really helped me save money. I use SnipSnap app (it’s such a life saver at Target and Walmart) and I also use Shopkick. I would highly recommend these if you don’t have time to clip coupons.
