I think this is pretty cool. Walmart has come out with a line of 18″ dolls for little girls that remind me a lot of the American Girl Doll Brand. However, these are a TON cheaper. If your girls are wanting the big 18″ dolls, this might be a really good alternative. And from the pics, they actually look really nice!
Right now, Walmart has the My Life as Pink Ballerina Doll for $27.97! And, they have other accessories just like American Girl like Beds, Tents, Accessories and more.
This line is brand new. So I’m not sure people know they exist yet! So, hopefully I have given you a heads up!

You get what you pay for in the doll category. Cheaper doesn’t mean it’s a good deal, if the doll (and the hair in particular) looks shabby in just a short time. I’m sure the clothes are a great deal, though. You can dress a real American Girl doll in knock off clothes to save money. I’ve even made some outfits. We’ve had our A.G. dolls for 5 yrs. and they’ve been played with a lot (but taken care of) and they are in super shape. We have one knock off (that somebody gave us) that is only a year old and she looks terrible. We’ll save our A.G.dolls forever but the knock off is getting thrown in the trash. A real value is a product that lasts. And, no,we don’t own stock in A.G.–we just buy less, but quality, toys for our kids.

I have three A.G. dolls from when I was a girl. I pulled them out the other day and couldn’t believe how good they all look. Including my Molly who was my first A.G. doll and got played with on a daily basis. I can’t wait to be able to give them to my girls when they get a little older.

Toys R Us has Journey Girl dolls which are great quality and much cheaper than AG. My girls wanted those dolls a few years ago and I did a bunch of research. In the end, we decided Journey Girl dolls were the way to go and they loved them. My daughters have collected a few over the years and they hold up wonderfully. They fit into the AG clothes too (not all 18 inch dolls do).
These Walmart dolls seem like lower quality ones. We don’t have any, but my daughters have checked them out in the stores. The accessories might be useful for other 18 inch dolls, but the dolls themselves don’t seem as though they’d last very long.
K-mart also had 18 inch dolls that they introduced a few years back, but they seem VERY flimsy. We’re not huge fans of the Target Our Generation dolls. We just don’t think they’re very cute and they don’t seem to have much variation. Those have great accessories, though. You can’t beat the accessories if you catch them when they go on 70% clearance.

We bought the My Life Cowgirl for my niece. There is a picture on the box with this doll on a black toy horse. Well of course she wants to know where the horse is. After searching the internet, I have the same question, I can not find it anywhere. Target has a higher quality horse from ‘Our Generation’.
Walmart should sell all the items they advertise. I will be more vigilant in looking at the packages and making sure they actually sell all the items before I make that purchase n the future.

The comments about the dolls being cheap is so weird to me. We had dolls that didn’t cost $100 and they held up fine. Most dolls are made to withstand children playing with them. Also the AG dolls all look the same, with different skintones. People of color want dolls that actually look like them. I say all that to say that I saw the My Life dolls at Walmart and loved them!

I am so with you. I guess to each his own. I do think it’s more of what you teach your child though. You can teach them to take care of things no matter the price. If you spend 20 bucks you should teach them to take care of it as if you spent 200 bucks.

I just need to know for certain the My Life Doll “clothes” will fit American Girl doll. I just bought a really cute skating outfit with fur, skates, leggings, an owl fur hat, headphones & a purse.
Otherwise, I’ve got to go out & shop some more.

My daughter is 4 and the AG magazines come to our house, she sits and looks at the magazine and told me she really wanted one. But she dose not take good care of her dolls at the moment. I didn’t want to spend 129 on a AG doll just for her to ruin it. I saw the my life dolls at walmart and decided to get her that instead to see how she would do with it. So far she loves it, and she thinks it’s a AG doll. LOL…. if she takes good care of this one, next year I will get her a AG doll. But thinking of getting her another mylife doll for her Birthday.

I got my girls the my life Walmart dolls and they are awesome!!! Well worth the money, a ton cuter then the american girl and the target dolls!! They are just adorable and durable and have all the same features as the american girl dolls, we are so happy with them and look at all the money we saved!! Nothing wrong with shopping around and being frugal instead a wasting away your money on a name brand item when you can get just as good of quality for a lot less! Over $100.00 less!!

I got my girls two my life dolls because they wanted american girl dolls and I can’t see spending hundreds on a doll. We have also bought clothes and other accesories for them. My girls are 2 and 7 and they love their dolls. These dolls seem good quality and are very cute, my 7yr old tales good care of her dolls but my 2yr old is a little rough and this doll has def stood up to the play . We plan on getting at least one more doll for each.

Does anyone know how to contact the My Life doll company? My daughter received the school girl doll for Christmas and last night she dropped it on our floor and the arm broke off. I am having trouble locating a website for the company. Not sure if this is a lost cause but I would like to try!

We bought a my life as doll in 2010. At that time my daughter was 3. She has been taking that doll with her everywhere since she got it. The dolls hair and body has held up good. We bought here new one this past Christmas she loves the new one but not like the other one. We are not poor or rich but i would just like for american girl doll owners to know that any doll will hold up. The are all made of vinyl cotton and material. My mother is not with us but i still have her first vinyl doll and mine both in great condition. A lot of little girls would just love to have extra for their doll but only have a doll. Doesn’t matter the brand but most kids do get to go to Walmart. Last night we went to eat my daughter had her dolls and 2 little girls came in with their dolls. My little girl didn’t ask the little girls what brand they had, she asked what are your girls name. That is what it’s all about the love of the doll. Not the name brand.

THEY ARE NOT! they recently started to sell these dolls for 16 bucks, becuz the dolls have gotten bad quality! the line used to be madame alexander, but now its just walmart. We all know how the walmart doll quality can be.. LOL. the furniture still looks nice considering they changed them to wood, but the dolls have not gotten better, just worser. I really wish madame alexender produce these dolls again, and not the walmart company,.
