How Can I Get Amazon to Match Competitor’s Prices??

I wish Amazon had a price matching policy.  But officially they don’t.  However, they do change their prices all day long to either match or beat other retailer’s prices.  So if someone else drops their price, more than likely Amazon will too!  It’s really nice when that happens.  Amazon employees spend their time changing prices throughout the day… you will see them go up and down depending on how many people are purchasing a particular item.

But, did you know that you can actually report a lower price elsewhere so Amazon knows?  That is about the closest thing to an actual price matching policy.  But, it definitely helps!

How to Report a Lower Price on Amazon:

For example, Best Buy has The Black Eyed Peas Experience on the Nintendo Wii for $7.99 todayAmazon has it for around $14.00.

  1. I am going to go to Amazon’s page for The Black Eyed Peas Experience on the Nintendo Wii to report a lower price.
  2. In the “Product Details Section”, you will see a sentence that reads “Did we miss any relevant features for this product? Tell us what we missed. Would you like to update product info, give feedback on images, or tell us about a lower price?”  I have pictured what it looks like below.
  3. Click on the “Tell us about a lower price” link.
  4. Then, you can choose in-store or online.  If you choose online, you can then enter in the URL of where that price is cheaper (Best Buy at this link for this example), add the price, shipping cost and the date you saw it.

Amazon won’t be able to change every price that is reported lower somewhere else.  But, they won’t know it is cheaper unless you submit a lower price. Just watch the Amazon page during the day to see if the price drops!!  Most times it does.

  2. I tried this for an item my son really wants. They were selling it for 26.00, everywhere else is 20.00, but Toys R Us had it for only 15.00! So I kept sending the link and the price never dropped. I kept holding out but now Toys R Us raised their price to 20.00, darn it! It made me laugh, I’m sure this wasn’t the case, but I joked that they probably told Toys R Us everyone else had it at 20 and told them to raise their price, Lol.

But it worked out with the Toys R Us groupon I was able to buy it in store for only 10$ plus there was a limited edition one left over from Black Friday that came with extra stuff for the same price.

  3. Does anyone know how long it takes for the price to drop after you submit a link (assuming they are able to match the price)? Is it the same day, a week later etc?

  5. I have been doing this lately! There is an app to scan the barcode and add the price for the store you are at.

  7. I tried this for a DVD on AmazonUK and there was no change in price, even though the better price elsewhere was a factor of 20 percent or more cheaper including shipping.
