It looks like Amazon has made some pretty big changes to their Amazon Prime program! Starting this month, NEW Amazon Prime members will have the option to pay for and take advantage of Amazon Prime on a monthly basis at only $7.99 per month after you complete a FREE 1-month trial!

In the past the only option has been to purchase an entire year of Amazon Prime for $79.00. So this is great news!

Now, if you do the math, paying for an entire year is cheaper than paying per month. About $17.00 cheaper over the course of a year.

If you only want to only use Amazon Prime in November and December though when you are doing your Christmas shopping, this is fantastic! You can sign up for the FREE trial now, enjoy it through December 9th and then just pay $7.99 more for an additional month if you need to do any shopping in December or the first part of January.

**Please note: This option will only show up for people who have never used Amazon Prime before or for people who sign up for the FREE 3o-Day Amazon Prime Trial.

(Thanks The Frugal Find for the info & picture!)

  1. I’ve never used prime and I can’t find where it says $7.99/yr. I clicked the free trial and in the fine print it says $79 a year still. I hope they offer the $7.99 deal when the free trial is up. I think this is an awesome deal!!! I want it to work

  3. Also remember that Amazon student will let you sign up for $39/year. I just did this yesterday but you must have a .edu email address.

    • May the student who signs up for Amazon Prime be able to add family to her/his account?

      • Amazon won’t let student account add members

  4. That cost more in the long run. 7.99x 12=95.88. I would rather pay 79.99 up front and the 16 bucks.

  6. How do you get the free trial?? I signed up a couple days ago and then looked on my credit card statement the next day and they have charged me $79!!

    • If you have already done a free trial, they won’t let you do another one. If you haven’t, just contact Amazon and say you were supposed to be signing up for the FREE 30Day Trial and they can reverse the charge. I would recommend doing a Live Chat with them instead of email so it can get resolved quicker. That has worked great for me with any Amazon questions I have had in the past.
