As many readers know, layaway rocks. It makes being able to afford expensive items so much easier. However, most layaway plans come with some kind of upfront fee. Not at Toys R Us! That’s right Toys R Us is offering completely free layaway!
Their layaway process is completed in three easy steps:
- Choose from eligible layaway items like baby gear, furniture, bikes, dollhouses and more
- Enjoy the convenience of making additional payments over time
- Then pick your item up! You will be notified when your product is available for pick up after your final payment.
Select items are not eligible for layaway like: Doorbusters, diapers, apparel, batteries, candy, film, food, formula, holiday-related items, and health and beauty items.
If your kids have had their eyes on some big ticket items for Christmas, definitely check out the layaway options at Toys R Us to help you afford those items.

A free layaway would be a great way to keep presents out of the house until last minute and have them paid for (without going intoto debt) when you pick them up.
Shauna
Great idea! I am always hiding things all over the house. The worst year was when we bought each of the kids a bike.

Don’t forget, Walmart is getting ready to offer lay-away again this year. TJ Maxx and Gordmans’s also offer lay-away.

I’m so glad to see Lay-away coming back. It was always so helpful in buying Christmas and birthday when my kids were young. I can’t imagine how families these days could get along with out sometimes!!

So much better to use Lay A Way instead of waiting for the last minute and getting into debt. I believe it was last year where so many people were showing up at Lay A Way counters and paying the remains on the accounts to the surprise of the customer. That is what Christmas is all about.

This is great so I don’t have to hide the toys from my snoopy 14 month old!

i am glad to see that layaway is coming back! growing up, my mom used it all the time, she didn’t have credit cards, so i watched her save and pay off her items as she could afford them. it is better to save if you can or not buy at all. after all they are only “things” any way. don’t put it on a credit card if you can’t pay it off right away, it’s not worth the stress and debt!
Lori
I love when stores have layaway, it makes it nice to buy some things and pay on them a little at a time, instead of all at once!

this can be very helpful!

When I saw fee pay a way, I was like yes ! This made me so happy and I jumped in my car go directly to a toys r us store. Get in the store asked a couple of question to the lady up, first I asked her to explain the free lay a lay, she said sure will. First thing you do is gather everything you want to put on lay a lay, then you pay 20% down, then pay another 10 or 10-20% down in another week and then you don’t have to pay anything else until December, of I didn’t want to. But in order for me to pay the other 10-20% I would come back to the store, it could not be made over the internet or a check by mail. So I ask her about it being a free lay a way? I said that’s a little miss leading dont you think? She answered yes mam I do, then she told me that it was the $5.00 fee that was being waived. Now I don’t know how other think about a commit that says free lay away , but to me , it should mean what it says free lay a way, nothing, no money down and three months to get it out. And you can’t make your payment on line earthier!
