I promised a bunch of you that I would let you know once the tickets for Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland were opened up!  And, they will have tickets for sale in just a few days – July 16th, 2012.

If you have no idea what I am talking about, our family has decided that Halloween Season is one of the best times to go.  Last year, we actually went to something called Mickey’s Halloween Party.  Basically, instead of paying to get into the park that day, you pay for that special ticket. (Around $50-$60 per person)  Then, they let us into the park around 5:00pm and kicked everyone else out at 6:00pm.  We had the entire park to ourselves until Midnight- although we got all of the rides done WAY before that.  And, they have fun candy and treat stations all along the park.  When I say we had bags of treats… we really did!

Everyone in your family can come dressed up in their Halloween costumes (optional of course) and they even give you Trick or Treat bags!  It’s one of the most fun things I have ever done at Disney.

So far, these are the times for the Mickey’s Halloween Party in 2012:

  • Friday, September 28 – 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Tuesday, October 2 – 6 to 11 p.m.
  • Friday, October 5 – 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Tuesday, October 9 – 6 to 11 p.m.
  • Friday, October 12 – 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Monday, October 15 – 6 to 11 p.m.
  • Friday, October 19 – 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Tuesday, October 23 – 6 to 11 p.m.
  • Friday, October 26 – 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Monday, October 29 – 6 to 11 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 31 – 6 to 11 p.m.

Tickets for the party will go on sale July 16th.  So if you are planning a trip to Disney in October, you will want to purchase your Mickey Party tickets ahead of time.  They are notorious for selling out!  And, they only sell a limited number of them. Plus, by purchasing ahead of time, you will save about $10 per ticket.

Here are some of the reasons why I love Disneyland in October:

  • It’s the only time of the year you will see the Villians come out.  Captain Hook, Ursula, Cruella De Vil, Malificent and more!
  • They change Space Mountain into Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and a scary ghost chases you around the ride.
  • The Haunted Mansion is also updated just for Halloween into a Nightmare Before Christmas Ride.  (I actually like it better than the original ride.)
  • They do a special Fireworks Display only during Halloween Time.  And if you know me, you know I LOVE Fireworks!  They also have special parades.
  • And of course, you get all the other fun stuff if you go to the Mickey’s Halloween Party I talked about above.

  1. What if I’ve already booked my trip during one of those days? Can I upgrade to a Mickey Halloween Party ticket? If I don’t, will I get kicked out of the park early on one of these days if I’m there with a regular ticket?

    • Im not sure if they will let you upgrade to a Halloween Party Ticket. You will have to call on the 16th. But, if you are there on one of the Mickey Party days with a regular ticket, they will kick you out once it starts.

    • I have Disney WORLD passes and have gone to this here (so it may be different out west)
but it’s not really something you can ‘upgrade’ to because its a separate event all together, not like if you have a non-park hopper and upgrade.
      in my experience anyway.

  2. For those of you that have a Disney Visa you can purchase your Halloween party tickets now, and depending on the date your ticket could be as low as $46. Also you can enter Disneyland 3 hours before the party actually starts. Ex. If the party starts at 7:00pm you can get into the park at 4:00pm.
This is a seperate ticket than your parkhopper pass, you cannot upgrade. Usually Disney California Adventure will stay open later when Disneyland closes to the public for the parties.

  3. Can anybody who’s ever done this tell me if it’s really packed with people? Is it still a nightmare getting on the rides, or would it be possible to be able to get on all the rides in this short of time?

    • Hey Kristy! It was great for us when we went. Not packed at all. We went on every ride in just a couple hours!

  4. Just curious if this is seperate from the California Adventure thing that I have heard of??

  5. Hi. So let me make sure I understood this right. I won’t have a to buy a ticket to enter the park if I buy this special ticket?

    • This ticket is only for Mickey’s Halloween party, it is NOT a park hopper ticket and can only get you in Disneyland 3 hours before the party starts. It is only good on the night of the party. Mickey’s Halloween party is a private event. If you are planning to go to Disneyland and California Adventure during the day, you will need a separate parkhopper ticket from the Halloween party ticket.

  6. Just so everyone knows. The Mickey’s Halloween Party Ticket is only valid during the party times
(Usually 4:00pm till midnight or so). If you want to get into the park before then, you will need a Park Hopper or regular ticket for that time frame.

What our family has usually done is spent time at the pool or beach on the day we were going to go to the Mickey Halloween Party. Then, used our regular Disneyland Park Hopper tickets on days the Mickey Halloween Party wasn’t going so we could get the most value out of our tickets and be there as long as the park was open.

  7. Melea, on the costumes? Do you have to dress up?

    • At Disney World you don’t, I can’t imagine its any different at Disneyland. It does make for better pictures though :p

also, at Disney World, they’ve done face painting free, so (for little ones) you could do easy/simple costumes (like fairy wings) and get face paint to match (assuming they do it there like here in Orlando) which means a little less hassle for you(:

  9. I didn’t notice it mentioned, when I went to Disney World’s Halloween, they also had free facepainting.

someone who has been to Disney Land’s may be able to say if they have it there, but it’s worth mentioning so you don’t paint faces before the party

  10. You will need a separate ticket for the party but well worth it because it will not be packed and you can ride a lot in the amount if time it is open. The regular park guests will be asked to leave at 5 pm and you will need a special wristband to remain in the park. Facepainting is free and the fireworks are not to be missed ! Endless character photo ops and plenty of trick or treating !
