Target Coupon Policy UPDATED!

There have been rumors that the Target Coupon Policy was going to change. But, rumors have been swirling for awhile and I didn’t want to get everyone anxious until Target actually changed their Corporate Coupon Policy online and it was official.  And, it looks like they now have!

Here are a few things that have changed with the new policy:

1- “We reserve the right to accept, refuse, or limit the use of any coupon.” This one is tricky because if you have a manager that doesn’t understand how coupons work, and that they actually make the store money, they may refuse your coupons or give you a hard time.  If this happens, with the new corporate policy the only option you have is to either call up corporate and see if they can give you assistance while you are in the store.  Or, you might have to find a different Target to head to.

2- “Limit of 4 identical coupons per household, per day (unless otherwise noted on coupon).”

3- Returns of items purchased using Manufacturer Coupons may receive coupon value returned in the form of a Target GiftCard.  Basically if you used a coupon to purchase the item, the amount of that coupon will be given back to you in the form of a Target Gift Card.  Say you purchased Aveeno Lotion for $3.00 and used a $1.00 Coupon, that $1.00 Coupon would be given to you in the form of a Target Gift Card.

Most importantly, make sure you print out the BRAND NEW UPDATED TARGET COUPON POLICY and keep it with you when you shop at Target from now on.

(Thanks Totally Target for the heads up)

  1. I hope they don’t start sucking something like walmart does.

  2. Amen to that! I’ve already had some problems at Target with a cashier telling me that their coupons are only 1 per guest, meaning you can only use 1 coupon of those ever! I know that it does state it on the coupon but usually most cashiers dont have a problem with a few coupons for each item. If you can only use 1 them how come they allow us to print 2 right? Im just getting frustrated with all the stricter policies in all the stores.

  3. My Target also told me that the new policy was that they would not let you use a Target coupon that is more than the price of an item, EX: travel size lotion, $.97 plus a coupon for $1.00 is not allowed, the product has to be of equal or lesser value than the coupon. Sad day for couponers ðŸ™

  4. I have worked at Target for over 2 years and while I am very pro coupon it seems to me a reasonable step. There is a huge problem in our store with people trying to pass off coupons that don’t match product and returning items that they purchased entirely with coupons. There is a lot of attempted coupon fraud. It’s a major problem from a Target employees perspective. I do know how couponing works, but there are a few bad apples trying to ruin couponing for those who do it right.

  5. I am with Kayla. I am a Target employee and the coupon fraud is completely out of hand. These policies have changed because of the few people who take advantage of the system. There was a point in my store where the couponers were clearing out our cash, even from the safe. It sucks for the people who use coupons correctly, but I am all for stricter policies from an employee perspective.

  6. In the last couple weeks our Target now only lets you use 4 coupons total. I thought that was per transaction but the cashier informed me that was per day. Regardless if it is a manufacturer’s coupon or Target coupon only 4 total coupons per day. Personally I think that is BS if you ask me. Also I have noticed the cashiers are fine with me until I present my 4 coupons and then they take forever looking them over. I really like Target but with this new policy at my store and the attitudes I get from the cashiers I think I’m just going to have to go back to Wal-Mart. At least there I don’t have any problems.
