$49 Kindle from Walmart!!! Crazy!

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

Did anyone else notice the full Walmart ad that was sent in the Sunday paper?? Loving that!  I really hope they decide to do that on a regular basis.  How great would it be if all of us had the same advertised prices??

One of the items that was listed in the ad was the Kindle for $79.  But, if you purchase it at Walmart, they will give you a $30 Walmart Gift Card at checkout.  Total cost??  Only $49 for the Kindle!!  WOO-HOO!!

This deal is valid through May 5th.  But the number of Kindles available in-store might be limited.  So I would go as early in the week as possible, if you want one!

Additional Info:  I might not have been clear enough for those of you who have never done a Gift Card deal before.  The free gift card cannot be used on the actual purchase of the Kindle.  But, it can be used on a separate transaction of anything else you are purchasing at Walmart.  So, you will pay $79, but you will get $30 for FREE to spend on anything else you would like.

  2. We didn’t get the advertisement here. Does that mean it’s not available in our area?

  4. FOr those of you that use these, how do they compare to physical books. I love to read but wonder how i’d do since I hate reading from computer screens.

    • I was reluctant to switch to an e-reader, but my husband suprised me with one and I love it. I love how easy it is to slip in my diaper bag or purse. It’s great for reading when I’m out in the sun with the kids. I also love the weight. I recently read the game of thrones series and it was so nice to just have the weight of the kindle and not a huge heavy book. I have also read a lot of books that I would never have bought or looked at otherwise, but they were free or super cheap when I needed a new read. I have a case with a light that allows me to read in the car or in bed and not bug hubby with a bigger light.

    • After about 5 minutes reading on the kindle, I forget that it’s not a book. I really enjoy mine. Also if you are an Amazon prime member, you can borrow one book a month for free and they include new releases also.

  5. Heather, these Kindles have a screen that is dark unlike the bright computer screen. It shouldn’t hurt your eyes. I am attached to physical books, I like to keep them after I’ve read them and just have them sitting there on the shelf… but you just can’t beat how lightweight this is and how easy it is to travel with tons of books without taking up the space. You don’t have to worry about your bookmark falling out either! 🙂

  13. The kindle is great and what a great price. Amazon pretty often puts decent books for free! I have gotten numerous cookbooks from Amazon and paid nothing!

  15. do you know–for kids books that have pictures in color—will they show up in color on this particular Kindle…or just the Kindle Fire? I’ve got the Kindle App on my Android Phone, and I love that I can download some children’s books for free (and they are in color), but they are just too small to read on my phone. I would love to get one for my kids! (and me!)

    • Shae, we have this Kindle, and it’s only black and white. Not the greatest for picture books, but you still CAN do picture books. And did you know that besides all the free books you can download, you can also check out digital library books for the kindle.

  25. All sold out in the Eugene / Springfield, OR area 🙠No rainchecks, no more expected in time for the promotion… Anyone know who might “price-match” this promo?

    • We live in Hillsboro, OR and our store is sold out as well–however, if you happen to be coming up I-5, we just called the Woodburn Walmart store and they have about 10 left.

      • Thanks Lisa. I am not headed that way anytime soon. This looks like a bait & switch by Wal-Mart. No mention of while supplies last in the ad, but no rainchecks or alternate offer either. Pretty upsetting actually.

  26. I put in our zip code and all it was showing was a fishing ad. 12 pages of walmart fishing stuff!?! Then we saw that there was another ad you could look at. We clicked on the other ad option in the bottom left corner and there was the kindle ad! Hope that helps someone else out there. 🙂
