Update: It looks like you must own a Kindle, as well as be a member of Amazon Prime, to take advantage of this freebie and you can only download one book at a time. (Thanks Karla)
Right now on Amazon, if you are a member of Amazon Prime, you can read all three of The Hunger Games books for FREE through eDownload! These eDownloads can be downloaded right away and then you can read them on the your Kindle, Mac, PC or any other compatible eReader.
Here are each of the books that are available for free download:
- The Hunger Games (The first book)
- Catching Fire (The second book)
- Mockingjay (The third book)
If you haven’t read this series yet, or want to re read it before the first movie comes out, this would be a great way to do it & you can’t beat the price! 😉 Keep in mind, Amazon prices can change at ANY time. So, if these are books you want to read over the new few months, I would download all three of them now. That way you are safe if the price goes back up.
**Don’t forget, if you aren’t a member of Amazon Prime, you can get Amazon Prime if you previously signed up for Amazon Mom, by doing a 1 Month Free Trial and cancelling with no obligation before your month is up or by signing up for the Amazon Student Program.

It looks like these are just part of the lending feature for prime members where you can borrow 1 kindle book for free a month? So I don’t think you can download all three at once, and you won’t be able to keep them. Still a good deal though to be able to read them for free.
Anna
Yeah I think you have to “give one back” before you can have access to the next book.
Jen
I just have the trial prime membership and it doesn’t give me the option to borrow for free. Do you have to have the paid membership?
Tracy Green
The Prime membership allows you to “borrow” one book at a time, and you must “return” it before getting the next one. The book will only download onto an actual Kindle device, not on a PC so Jen not sure if maybe that is the problem? You should be able to read/borrow it with a trial membership. On the Amazon Prime page, there is a help section..it walks you through how to get it on your kindle. Hope this helps. 🙂
Emily
All three of these books have been available free through the Kindle Lending Library since November (or earlier) when I purchased my Kindle. You need to download the book through your Kindle for it to be free and you can only “borrow” one book per month for free.
