Nielsen Home Scan Consumer Panel just opened some new spots for applicants! I wanted to be sure you knew about this as soon as possible, since the spots fill up fast!

All you need to do is fill out the Nielsen questionnaire and if you meet their current requirements, you will receive a home scanner in the mail. You will then scan all of your home purchases with the scanner and upload the information through your computer and the information will be sent to Nielsen Consumer Panel. You will earn points for each scan & send task and you can redeem your points for electronics, toys, gift cards and more. You will also be entered into drawings for cash prizes!

Some people really like Nielsen and others say it takes too much of their time. If you do get accepted, however, if doesnt hurt to try it out! If you decide its not for you, just send back your scanner at NO cost to you and youll be done!

Ive even had friends that were sent cash in the mail to take surveys and give opinions about products. It is a super special perk that a lot of people get out of the blue. Its definitely a fun thing to get as a surprise!

  1. I’ve been doing it for a year and a half and have NEVER gotten cash out of the blue. I have received a reusable shopping bag and some kind of can/jar opener utensil. So not a lot of reward for a very time consuming (and frustrating) task. I have earned “points” that I can redeem for something on their website, but nothing is very appealing to me- mostly cheap, useless stuff.

  3. That has been my experience so far as well. I was so excited to get it. Also- it takes me about 30-40 minutes to scan my big grocery shopping trips (you have to enter what you exactly paid for each item, indicating on each item if you used a coupon, store deal, etc.) I will give it a couple more weeks , but being a full time employee, full time student, and mom….. it is becoming more stress than I feel it is worth 🙁

  4. I’ve also done it for well over a year. I’ve gotten into a routine with it, so it’s easier now than in the beginning. I’ve only received the free gifts Heather mentioned. I keep scanning and transmitting each week and I’m racking up the points, but nothing has jumped out at me from their gift catalog enough to redeem them. It is a pretty big commitment for not much tangible return. If having your “opinion” (through your purchases) known by the big marketing companies is important to you go for it.

  5. I have just started. This is my second week in doing it. It is time consuming to say the least especially after a big trip to the grocery store. I will give a few months to see how I like it. More of the problem right now is remembering to scan everything that comes in the door. Not a habit yet. Hopefully it won’t be such a chore in the future as I get used to it. I think the gifts they offer for points look great, but will take a long time to accumulate to get. Just my 2 cents.

  6. I got accepted and should be getting my scanner soon. I have gotten 2 different surveys in the mail from Nielsen and received cash with them both times. 🙂

  7. I got accepted, but haven’t gotten my scanner yet. I did surveys for them years ago and got movie tickets from them.
