    Mark your calendar American Express®
FedEx and American Express® are teaming up for a big idea to benefit America’s small businesses. Together, we’re sponsoring Small Business Saturday®, Nov. 26, 2011, by giving shoppers a total of $1 million worth of Shop SmallSM American Express gift cards to spend at local retailers across America.

  9. From what I understand by reading the site – the FB giveaway *is* for consumers (us), however the $ is to be used at small time/local merchants (not chain stores) – they are having them participate in some sort of Black Saturday thing.

“As the premier sponsor in the “Shop Small Gift Card” program, FedEx will give away for free 30,000 Shop-Small(SM) American Express gift cards, each worth $25, to consumers through a Facebook promotion leading up to Small Business Saturday on November 26. Ten thousand additional cards will be distributed directly to FedEx customers. The contribution means more money in the cash registers of locally-owned independent businesses. “

  10. They have 2 different things going on. They’re giving away $25 gift cards and they’re giving away $25 statement credits. And it says you can only do one or the other. I did the statement credit because I could find information on it and because I did it last year as well, and know it works.

Here is the link for the statement credit. https://www.facebook.com/SmallBusinessSaturday
If you have a amex card, once you go to that page, click “register card” and after you register you should get an email confirmation confirming your registered. Then shop or dine at a small business that accepts amex on Nov 26th and amex will credit your account.

  11. Do you know if you can “like” the fedex page ahead of time and then just claim the card at 11? Or do you have to be a first time “liker” for the deal to work? Thanks!

  12. This was on the fedex facebook page and fedex commented that it was indeed correct.
“After much searching, my husband finally found the terms and conditions to this promotion. (in the FaceBook search box, type in Small Business Saturday and then click on the terms and conditions link mid page) You have to have your own American Express Card and that is what you will register at 1pm. Then, On Saturday the 26, you will use your own card to spend $25 at a small business and Fed Ex will give you a $25 credit on your American Express Statement. I thought it was going to be an Amex Gift card, so, sadly, many people will not be able to benefit from this promotion!”

  14. UPDATE YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD AND BE A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER IN ORDER TO QUALIFY

  15. Only works if you have an american express card. MISLEADING!!! The whole FB wall is littered with very upset people. Bad on FedEX!!

    • It does make sense though and they have the right to do the giveaway how they want, do wish I had a chance though… but alas I do not have an American Express card and won’t be getting one anytime soon:) Would be nice if FedEx would have had that note more openly published but that’s ok. I’m over it:)

      • I agree! I posted the fine print on the Facebook page, too. Yikes, what a mess.

  16. That’s very misleading and mean!! I will go and “dis-like” them now…Arugh!!!

  17. Apparently it isn’t a gift card, but a credit to a statement of an existing AmEx if you purchase $25 on a certain date. Also, the link to even sign up for that is overloaded and not working. Dissapointing.

  18. It would be nice to have these details ahead of time. What a waste of time!!!!

  19. Just wait- the said on fb they are still loading the form… maybe it is gift cards…

  22. You guys kinda jumped the gun. The deal IS working NOW. You get a free $25 gift card, no Amex card required. You can even get 2 per household if you use different names and email addresses. Run!

  23. There are TWO promotions going – so one is the credit through AMEX (not FedEx) – the other is through FEDEX, giving consumers a $24 AMEX card to be used on Nov 26th.

It’s hard to get through – but I think I got through (at least I got a confirmation email) – and the GC are coming from SLC, so we shouldn’t have to wait too long (LOL)

  29. As a former U.S. Attorney, I have filed a complaint with the Office of the U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. While filing is the simple step, I highly doubt the Administration will take any action against FedEx or AMEX since there are FAR TOO MANY ex-Wall Street CEO’s working in the Obama Cabinet.

In my opinion, FedEx may be charged with fraud.

    • These are 2 separate deals so you may want to withdraw your complaint. I already got confirmation from each of these deals, free $25 gift card from Fedex (no AMEX required); and a free $25 credit from AMEX if I shop at a small business (I did this last year and it worked fine).

    • As an attorney, maybe you should have done your research before going lawsuit-crazy. There was no fraud committed, there were two separate promotions. One which required to register an Amex for a statement credit, and a giftcard on Facebook that did not require an Amex. I got the $25 giftcard without having to register a credit card.

    • It’s a shame people feel the need to sue (or “file complaints”) over trivial things. Honestly, so many people were jumping the gun on this before FedEx even had the link up on their facebook site. AMEX started running the credit program last year for it’s cardholder members who shopped at local stores. That promotion had nothing to do with FedEx offering a $25 AMEX giftcard.
      —-

Bottom line when it comes to freebies, some of us will get it, some of us will not. Fussing at the companies the offer these types of giveaways will only lessen the chance that they will do such a thing again.

  30. Just got my Fed Ex Card. Patience pays off ??? Happy though.

  31. These are 2 separate deals!! I registered for both, as an AMEX card holder and I got a free $25 GC from Fedex. I did the AMEX small business deal last year and it worked smoothly. I was issued a credit for $25 because I shopped at a small business on that day. The Fedex GC is separate, I already got an email saying my GC was on the way. I even got one for hubby since it allows 2 per household address! So since my hubby is also an AMEX card holder, I registered both our cards for the credit and we each got $25 GC, so these promos just netted us a free $100!

  38. There are actually TWO promotions FedEx is doing. One IS for Amex cardholders. The other was actually a $25 gift card to 30,000. I was one of the 30,000 to receive one. I got my confirmation. Originally, it seemed misleading, but then FedEx apologized for their delay on the registration form. I refreshed and about 25 minutes after 1 pm ET, the link was on the page.

  39. My other half and I were both fortunate enough to get one too! I managed to snag one for my mother too before they ran out. Does anyone know if they have a list of stores that are participating in the Black Saturday sales? So far I haven’t been able to find one and it doesn’t appear any of the small businesses local to me are advertising it!

  40. There seems to be two promotions going on one with a $25 cards and one with a credit. This is what they said on facebook
The card is available while supplies last, to US residents aged 18 and older, and you don’t have to be an Amex card holder in order to be eligible for the gift card.

  41. There was a large messup here. people thought it was the same deal the american express credit card was and is giving $25 dollars to your credit card with them…when you sign up and spend $25.

FedEx took a long time but they did give 30,000 $25 gift cards.. I was lucky enough to be one of them. This was my email:
Thanks for signing up to receive a $25 American Express(R)
Shop Small(SM) Gift Card, compliments of FedEx. Your
registration is being processed, and you will receive the
Gift Card in the mail. Please be on the lookout for a
plain white, standard-sized envelope with a return address
of Salt Lake City, UT, and an address header labeled
    “Do Not Discard.”
