As you can see the Smith’s sale actually is the cheapest option if you just need to purchase all of the side options. And, Walmart has the cheapest price for the Turkey. And, if you have other smaller chain stores in your area, you might even find better prices than that. So, be watching. 🙂

Also, even though Walmart’s side dish items are more expensiv ethan the Kroger owned stores, combined with the Turkey prices, in this scenario, it is cheaper overall to purchase your entire Thanksgiving Meal items through Walmart. You can actually purchase your Thanksgiving and feed a family of 6-8 for only $21!

Purchase Entire Thanksgiving Meal for $21 at Walmart!

12 Pound Grade A Turkey $.68 a lb
2 Cans Campbell’s Gravy $.75 Each
3 Cans Del Monte Green Beans $.68 each
1 Can Cranberry Sauce $1.16
2 Boxes of Stove Top Stuffing $1.25 Each
5 lb Bag of Potatoes $1.47
10 Count Bakery Rolls $1.68
2 Cans Cream of Mushroom Soup $.60 Each
(**Keep in mind, this is WITHOUT coupons you can drop the price even more with printable coupons on some of these products)

**Important: The Smith’s/Kroger Sale ends tonight (11/15). So if you want the prices I listed above, you will need
to go tonight. Also, all of Walmart’s prices were not advertised. So, your store might have them a little cheaper or more expensive depending on where you live.

  2. I live in St. George, and I saw that our Harmon’s grocery store has a 10 lb. bag of Idaho potatoes for $1.98.

    • and .88 a lb for the turkey… but $5 off if you buy 4 12-pack coke/sprite products:)

  3. I’m disappointed you don’t include Macy’s prices as well. Macy’s usually beats all the competition in just about every department, and they don’t required a shopping/tracking card! Utah County loves Macy’s.

    • I’m a big fan of Macey’s too. But this past week there weren’t that many great advertised deals on Thanksgiving staples.. So, I’m hoping they come out with something better for tomorrow’s start of their new ad!

  4. If you are a Costco member you can get Swanson Chicken Broth for .42 a can (14.5 oz) with their mailed coupon booklet ($2.25 off of a 12 pack). It was the best deal I had found anywhere.

  5. Depending on what potatoes you choose to purchase, there is a 2/2 Earthbound coupon on Recyclebank for 75 points….Our Walmart sells these super cheap so this should make a bag even cheaper!! 🙂

  6. Also- the Kmart ad had a 10 lb bag of potatoes advertised for $0.99. I priced-matched it this morning at Walmart. Why not just price-match all the prices at Walmart?

    • You totally could! But, a lot of people are new to price matching, so I wanted to give everyone the option of shopping wherever they wanted.. or doing what you did and price match. 🙂

      • Plus a lot of people (okay maybe not a lot but ME) refuse to shop at Walmart. I’d rather pay double! Although honestly with Smiths (my grocer of choice) prices I bet I don’t pay much more.

        • Kelly, totally agree. I will spend 2x just to not patronize Walmart. They treat their employees terrible and it shows in the way they treat their customers.

  8. When I went to Smith’s today they were having a promotion that if you buy 35 dollars worth of groceries, you could get any size of turkey for only 10 dollars! That’s a great deal I think!

    • Awesome!! That wasn’t in their weekly ad. So if your store is doing that, then looks like Smith’s is your best deal out there! You should be able to get a killer total cost with that deal. 🙂

  9. Why do people refuse to shop at Wal-mart?

    Reply
    • I love Walmart. I almost never have problems there. I went to Smith’s today and was reminded why I always price match their sales at Walmart. Their cashiers don’t know their own coupon policy and they always make me feel like I am ripping them off. They accused me of copying my coupons today until I pointed out that the numbers were different I’ll stick with price matching.

    • I refuse to shop at Wal-mart because I disagree with their business practices. They don’t negotiate with suppliers, but rather tell them how much a product will cost. This leads to jobs being shipped overseas where workers are often taken advantage of and to suppliers cutting corners with their products. Additionally, I think Wal-mart’s treatment of its workers is terrible. Wal-mart won’t pay for their workers’ health insurance. They’ve also been taken to court for other labor issues like favoring men over women for managerial positions.

Besides, every Wal-mart I’ve been in is rather dingy inside. I haven’t been to Wal-mart in years, and I find plenty of ways to save money.

    • I personally hate wal-mart for many reasons. Cashiers who don’t have a clue what they are doing TERRIBLE costumer service. The store is nasty. Quality is non-existent, do you know where their produce comes from? My father-in-law drives truck and when a load is rejected by another store for quality, they sell it to wal-mart. Have you ever seen the documentary “The High Price of Low Cost?” I didn’t like them before, but after watching that…. My husband used to work for them (a long time ago) and was just awarded money in a law suite for making him work off the clock. Yes, they do that too. I’d prefer to give my money to a company who treats their employees well and can keep their store clean among other things. And I still manage to save money, we have a family of 5 and I spend about $20 a week on groceries.

      • I just have to reply to clear up some misinformation which I feel was presented in these posts. I have first hand experience with working out a deal to supply my company’s products at Walmart. While there was give and take on both sides, ultimately Walmart was very easy to negotiate pricing with. I was never asked to supply a lower quality product to cut corners. The contract with Walmart actually created many jobs here in Utah rather than overseas.
I can’t speak to Walmart’s health insurance issues, but I do know that the lawsuit regarding women not being promoted in to management positions was actually dismissed by the US Supreme Court just this year.
It has been my experience that the level of customer service you get anywhere is in direct comparison to how you expect to be treated at any store. Have I had cashiers that were having a bad day? Sure! It’s then that I go out of my way to let them know how much I appreciate their hard work even though they aren’t getting paid nearly what they are worth. I haven’t had a bad customer service experience in years:)
        Just my two cents…

        • I haven’t had a GOOD customer service experience at Walmart…ever. I’ve had fine and horrible. However, my local Smith’s ROCKS as far as customer service goes. It is rare to have anything less than awesome customer service. My local Target also has great customer service-I love how employees are everywhere and totally willing to help you out. I’m sure it’s different everywhere and my local Walmart has a terrible reputation, not just for customer service, but also cleanliness (or should I say dirtiness?), they are always out of stock, there produce is terrible, and really I’m not super impressed with Walmarts prices. I find better deals at Smiths and Target.

  11. Loved seeing you on GTU! Alot of people chose not to shop at Walmart, because there is no customer service, the stores are jam packed, cashiers are rude and clueless, just to name a few! I however was in a rush today so I matched all the prices at Walmart and ended up saving a bundle! The cashier was slower than slow and the customers behind me weren’t happy (Which I don’t like) but by using coupons and matching prices on the already good deals, I had a great shopping trip! Thank you so much for all the time and money you save me!

Winco’s ad lists FREE TURKEY with purchase of $100 or more. It also lists 14 things they will BEAT the prices on. Depending on how much you spend it may be totally worth it.

  17. The Walmart in Draper did not have turkeys for .68 a lb. They lowest they had was .74 and they would not match the e-mail. Where did you find the turkeys for .68 a lb?

    Thanks

    • My Walmart in American Fork had them for that price.. The Walmart in Draper is pretty small.. isn’t it just a Neighborhood Grocer size? I would go to a larger full size Super Center if you can.
