Nielsen Home Scan Consumer Panel just opened some new spots for applicants! I wanted to be sure you knew about this as soon as possible, since the spots fill up fast!

All you need to do is fill out the Nielsen questionnaire and if you meet their current requirements, you will receive a home scanner in the mail. You will then scan all of your home purchases with the scanner and upload the information through your computer and the information will be sent to Nielsen Consumer Panel. You will earn points for each scan & send task and you can redeem your points for electronics, toys, gift cards and more. You will also be entered into drawings for cash prizes!

Some people really like Nielsen and others say it takes too much of their time. If you do get accepted, however, if doesn’t hurt to try it out! If you decide it’s not for you, just send back your scanner at NO cost to you and you’ll be done!

Leave a comment & let us know if you get accepted today. I’m still waiting list for my turn to participate! You may get put on a waiting list as well- I’m thinking it’s worth it for me!

  1. They are NEVER recruiting in the Ogden area. I’ve tried a dozen different times (all times of the year) and they are never recruiting. So frustrating!

  4. I couldn’t get in either. I did try it once, though, several years ago. It was so frustrating. Every single item you purchased needed to be scanned, then the price of that item needed to be manually entered into the scanner. After a large shopping trip, it was very time-consuming to look up every single item (and who can decipher half of the abbreviations on a receipt?), check the price, and enter it while your frozen items are melting… I just thought I would point that out to those who think it sounds easy.

  5. I agree with Tiffany

I tried it for a week and after my first week I was done, You also have to manually enter in any coupons or rewards cards used. Too much hassle for not enough compensation. The machine is easy to work but too many steps for each item, plus anything you buy on the go: vending machines, gas stations anything really needs to be added in. I also had multiple problems with the scanner loading to the website. So all my work done for nothing.

    • I think you will know right away if they are not accepting panelists in your zip code- you are probably on a waiting list or they’ll let you know that you are accepted really soon!

  11. Don’t feel bad if you don’t get accepted! It is a pain to do this and I just sent my equipment back last week. For the amount of work that goes into it, they don’t reward you very well (if at all).

  12. We got accepted and our scanner has been shipped. We are located in Michigan & are a family of two adults, one twenty two year old, and one sixteen year old. Very middle class. Was surprised we were picked with such normal demographics! Afraid that it might end up being too labor intensive though.
