If you haven’t heard yet, Rite Aid has changed a few key points of their coupon policy! YIKES!
CHANGES:
- They will no longer allow the use of a Buy 1, Get 1 Coupon with a Buy 1, Get 1 Sale to get both free.
- They will only allow up to 4 of the same coupon to be used in one transaction to allow others to be able to get the deal.
Obviously limiting the amount of items you can purchase with copies of the same coupon will help everyone. And, hopefully the store won’t run out of items as quickly. But since the store gets reimbursed FULLY for the BOGO coupon we would use on a BOGO sale, I’m not sure why they won’t accept that any more.
You can see the entire NEW Rite Aid Policy here. Make sure you print it out and take it with you each time you go shopping!
(Thanks Tracey!)

I’m actually really happy with this change. I’m sure I’m in the minority but I think it will help those of us who are never able to pick up sale items due to clearing of shelves. This happens even more so when there is a b1g1 sale. Some will say this is due to Rite Aid not ordering properly but I know that’s not the case. It’s been made clear that many times the stores have no idea of knowing which items will be items that will be the big sellers. Some say this is impossible but with all the avenues people get coupons these days how can we expect these corporations to be responsible for figuring out our desires on a particular week. They have no way of knowing how many people will go to Ebay for a particular coupon and manufacturers can’t always get enough product to the stores in a timely manner. I think in the end it comes down to a manufacturer issue in most cases. If they can’t get product to stores, it reflects negatively on the stores. If stores can’t offer a product that is on sale due to not enough inventory, it makes them look bad. on top of that, if a manufacturer decided not to reimburse due to an abuse of coupons (like we saw with Physicians Formula recently), stores have to tighten up policy. I do think manufactures should stop issuing b1g1 coupons rather than putting the stores in the spot of having to not accept them when they offer b1g1 sales.
In the end, between economic times and TLC’s show, let’s face it, the world of couponing is going to have to change…at least until the dust settles.

I agree with Laurie. For the “healthy” couponers out there like me, it is so frustrating that some greedy person took the entire shelf of something they have 100 of at home. Smith’s just changed their coupon policy, and now Rite Aid. This will trickle down to all stores after this terrible show on TLC.
Even for the “healthy” couponers this will start affecting us. Coupon amounts will be lower, not as many coupons distruibited, policy’s changing for coupons, freee items, etc. The best thing all of us can do is NOT WATCH extreme couponing! Don’t contribute to the madness by helping give that sick show ratings. Those people need therapy not a stockpile

PLEASE ask everyone you know, not to watch that rediculous show!!!!! It’s hurting all of us everyday couponers. ……. I think most of us saw this coming after the show first launched. Iv’e read that several WAGS are enforcing the same policy changes. This is soooooooooo dissappointing for those of using q’s just to get by. 🙠🙠ðŸ™

@ freebies2deals and anyone else upset with the policy change.
I just want to put this out there. The whole bogo change with Rite Aid really sucks, but more then that I am worried that the other drug stores will eventually follow their lead.
My boyfriend is a real techy guy and he knows a lot about computers/cell phones. Anyway HTC one of the leaders in the cell phone industry announced that they were going to be locking their phones a couple days ago. This would mean that all of the techy guys all over the world would not be able to customize their phones. As a result the word got out and in a matter of minutes the HTC facebook page was FLOODED with comments expressing everyones dislike of the change. Within 2 Days the CEO posted a comment on the HTC wall:
?”There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we’ve listened. Today, I’m confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience, – Peter Chou, CEO of HTC”

*It’s easy to say “I just won’t shop Rite Aid anymore” I’ve said it too. But what happens when the other companies follow their lead? We won’t have any other options…
I just want to remind everyone that we have a say in these situations, and with the ease of using forums like facebook why not speak up?

I don’t watch the extreme coupon show, but read comments about it. My husband watched one episode and I saw like 10 minutes of it. Crazy stuff. They are definitely out of the normal range for couponers. I do like to get good deals, but I leave items on the shelf for others. There will always be greedy people out there….that is life we can’t let it make us bitter.
