Back by Popular Demand, I thought I would share my “How to Save on Disneyland” Videos with you again.  Last year in April we took my whole side of the family to the park and I thought it would be great to video tape all of the ways you can save at the park.  It really is possible to save while at Disneyland.  So, today, I will be re-airing Part 1 of our Disneyland Vacation Saving Series.  Hopefully it can give you all ideas on how to save on an upcoming Disneyland trip of your own!

(If you can’t see this video in your email updates, go here to watch it instead!)

Grab your $25 Gift Certificate to the House of Blues Restaurant in Downtown Disney for only $3.00.  Just use code MAYat checkout! (Exp 5/21/11)   You can use the Gift Certificate one year from the date you bought it. So if you are going to Disneyland anytime in the next year, grab it now!  Use zipcode 92802 to find it on Restaurant.com.   Please make sure you read the fine print before purchasing Gift Certificates on Restaurant.com.  I believe you can only use one House of Blues Gift Certificate per visit.

Like I said in the video, I booked with Get Away Today.  And so far everything has been just as Get Away Today promised! So I am definitely happy about that!  Remember that you can get an additional $10 off your booking with Get Away Today by telling them the word “Freebies” when you call, or using Freebies as your promo code online.  I thought that was really nice of them to offer to Freebies2Deals Readers!!

**There are still more videos to come!  So stay tuned tomorrow!

  3. Good video, a little (okay, a LOT) over kill on the Get Away Today advertising though. Also note that fast passes can not be used BEFORE time stamped. They can be used anytime after the earliest stamped time.

  4. Cool! Can’t wait to hear more! We are going in October as well! Do you have tips for saving on the attractions in San Diego too?

  5. oh, quick question. So if my parents buy a house of blues restaurant gift certificate and we buy one too, can we only use one? Or could we each use our own?

  6. @ Claire–check out Trekaroo.com, great site for traveling w/ families. I have put several reviews up re: San Diego attractions. …and be sure to check craigslist.com for CHEAP tickets to local attractions there–we got our San Diego Zoo tickets for a great deal that way.

  7. awesome, thanks for posting this! I’ve got a restaurant.com gift card I’ve been wanting to use and we are going to Disneyland in three weeks!

  8. Buy Disney Gift cards at Smiths. I usually get close to half of what we budget for spending and food on a Disney gift card at Smiths. That way I earn points for money I am going to spend anyway at Disneyland. Example a $500 Disney gift card will earn you $5.00 or .50 off your gas. The gift cards are good at any of the restaurants and gift shops like cash.

  10. HI, can you give me an idea for the general prices at the House of Blues? We are trying to decide if we should get the $25 or the $50 gift card. Thanks.

    • If you have two people…the $25 gift card will be great. If you have more, get the $50.

    • The only problem I saw with the $50 card is that you have to spend $100 there, while with the $25 one you only have to spend $35…

Plus we got bus passes, Park tickets and a character dinner all for the same price to stay at a Disnyland hotel and park tickets for a week. no extras added. Killer deal!! And we love GetAwayToday!!!!! Thanks for all the great tips!!

  14. We are HUGE Disneyland fans and love to use Getawaytoday for our trips. Thanks for the House of Blues tip. We also like to save on time when we go and use a program called RideMax to maximize our time in the park. Go to http://www.ridemax.com (I am not self promoting here. I really do buy it and use it for our yearly trips to Disneyland) and read all about it. There are tips for where to stand for parades, how to beat the crowds, but the best is the ride planner. You can put what attractions you don’t want to miss and it will give you a schedule to follow. We have never stood in a line longer than 20 minutes for any attraction, even Peter Pan!

  15. I’ve already been looking at your videos b/c we are hoping to go in December. Probably 6 adults & 2 kids, so we think we’ll probably stay at the same hotel you guys did. Will fit all of us & is a good deal. I can’t wait! Definitely put up any more tips & information we should know about. I am not good at figuring things out by myself 🙂

  17. I love my Disney Chase Visa Card it has a lot of park perks. For our trip a few years ago we used the Alberson’s website to pre order food and bottled water from the store close to Disneyland. We stayed right across from the Park at the Park Vue Inn. It had a kitchen area so we were able to leave the Park for Lunch/Dinner have a quick and much cheaper meal. Looking forward to the rest of your video’s as we are going again in July!

  18. Is Get Away Today only for CA? We want to go to Orlando in Oct and I can’t see anything for Florida….

  19. So you can only use 1 certificate per visit? And the $50 one, while it’s only $6, you have to spend $100 minimum order. We’ll be going with 4 adults, I don’t know if we’d spend $100, plus after it’s all said and done we’d still be spending $75. Is that worth it? I’ve never been there and haven’t been to Disneyland for YEARS!

  20. You are all making me want to go to Disneyland SO bad!!! But I need to pay off medical bills before I can spend money on playing 😉 Melea you rock!! Love all the ways you help us save money!

  22. We are so excited to see you posting this series! We just got to CA yesterday and are heading over to Disney next weekend. I don’t see video 2 anywhere? Did I miss it? Also, last time we came, we used RideMax as well and Loved it. Even if you can’t follow their recommended schedule to perfection, they offer a lot of tips. Thanks a bunch!
