Reader Tarrah emailed me today to let me know how far your free samples really can go. And even I was truly surprised! Here is what she had to say:
“Melea,
I wanted to thank you for all that you do. I have always been into couponing and getting freebies but you have made it so much easier for me. We moved into a new house last President’s Day weekend. We had just run out of Shampoo and Conditioner so I told my husband we were going to use ONLY samples and freebies until they ran out (moving gave me a date that I could remember so that I could see how long we could use free shampoo and conditioner). Well it has been a year and we are still going strong only on samples and freebies, we were getting low and then Herbal Essences did their free bottle give away so now I have enough to go at least another 3-4 months (hopefully longer if I get some more freebies and samples!) I just wanted you to know that you have made a difference to so many people.”
Now I know that we get a lot of freebies and samples posted up on the site. But who knew that you could go an entire year on just the free samples?? That is definitely a great way to save your money and use it on other items! Thanks for sharing Tarrah!
Has anyone else tested out using only Free Samples? I would love to hear about it!

I haven’t been able to live on just free samples, but I never have to find shampoo, conditioner, etc. when I fly somewhere! These free samples are the best for travel restrictions! I also keep all the small sizes from my hotel to use when I travel next time!

I too have not had to purchase shampoo and conditioner for…well, quite a long time! My husband uses Head & Shoulders and just as his was running out, I qualified him to participate in a survey for Head & Shoulders! They mailed him a free bottle to test, so now he is set for another few months!
My favorites, though, are the snack food samples that come. I keep them in the car and pull them out when my kids get hungry. They love the surprise of finding out what I have stashed away!
